| After heat licking until raw Greetings, our baby girl Lady has had her second heat without much trouble. It's been 5-6 days since she finished and the area seems very raw and she has been licking to the point of light bloody spotting around uvula. I have put her "diaper" back on to prevent more licking and have been careful about diet as well as treats. We are very careful not to have her in contact with anything that could cause irritation. My questions are simply, what is causing her to lick to the point of such irritation and how do I stop it?? Thanks, Mark and more so Lady. |

| I am sure you have cleaned that area to make sure nothing was stuck to her, if she is licking to the point she is making herself bleed I would get her to the vet. Perhaps others will be along with more positive advise.

| I've cleaned her well and applied a cream that should leave a moisture barrier and acts as a topical antihistamine. I Was sure to cover it well so she can't get to it. I figure I'll give her a day and see if it improves and then to the vet if it still looks angry. Thanks for the advice. I had hoped that perhaps another person on the site had some experience with this but I really don't want to take any chances with our furry baby |

| keep checking in, I am sure other members will be along. A vet visit is a wise choice.

| You might also want to talk to your vet about having her spayed.

| She could have an infection. Worse case scenario would be venereal disease contracted from the male. She should be seen by a Vet. asap.
