| New puppy My puppy is 8 weeks old. She was constipated yesterday and I put her little bottom in warm water and she was fine. I got up and played with her this morning and she was fine. I came home for lunch and found that she did not eat her food and only peed on her pad. She is shaking a little bit. Help? |

| I would give her a small amount of karo syrup or honey and rub it on her gums. I would do this while I was on my way to the closest vet!! This is an emergency situation for an 8 week old pup. Please get your puppy to the vet immediately. Then please post an update after you get the help you need...good luck!!!

Totally agree with this. Puppies this young and small need to eat often. I know when I got Lexi, and still now, she would never eat while I was gone. Luckily I don't work so I never had to worry about her not eating enough. Not sure how long you are gone for work, but your pup could die from not eating enough due to hypoglycemia. I would see if you could have someone stop by a few times while you are working to be sure she is getting some food in her often. | |

| This is a post from yesterday, but puppy and Yorkie owners should know that a finger "wet" in olive oil, on the anal area, massaging clock wise will trigger the reflexes necessary to resolve most constipation situations. A constipated puppy will not eat, can become hypoglycemic and things can go unwell. I decided to post this here because a lot of puppy owners research yorkietalk for answers on puppy care and well being. It is a simple thing to know, may sound graphic, but it is a real situation. If quickly addresses, appetite continues, "business" continues as normal , happy life! Xoxo

| I also just noticed she is an owner not a breeder of this 8 week old baby, I will resume to add that you need to contact the breeder about this, perhaps this puppy may not be ready to be by itself yet. Xoxo

| I agree with Kreuer that it would be best to have someone who can look after your puppy while you are at work -- at least for a few weeks. Also make sure that her little rear end stays clean. With small pups, just a little bit of poop stuck on their rear ends can cause problems. Good job with the warm bath.
