| Please Help! Sick Baby I have a 6 month old Yorkie named Gidget. She developed bumps from her neck down her back about 2 months ago. They turned to pus. Took her to vet. Said it was allergies and infected. She got a shot & was on antibiotics for 6 weeks. Just stopped antibiotics & a round of steroids. She was tested for allergies. It can be done now by a blood test. Checks for everything. She is allergic to chicken, eggs, flax seed, ragweed, & corn pollen. Has been on a special food now for two weeks. I boarded her for 6 days. Her skin was almost well. I picked her up Friday night. When I got home she was worse than when I took her. Didn't see her till I got her out of carrier. They gave her a special bath. I am sharing with you because of allergies & how unbelievable it could be to chicken and flax seed well used products in food and treats. I really need help. She has seen 2 vets in different states, around $1500. I have cried for her. I feel I h failed her. I'm calling vet now. Any suggestions or real help would be greatly appreciated. Prayers for her. I'm exhausted and at my wits end. She barely weights 4 lbs. Thank you. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would see a Vet Dermatologist asap. And she needs a skin scraping to see if the current skin issue is bacterial.

UPDATE: Gidget is back on antibiotics and is doing better already. Started last night. She slept well and ate a good breakfast. Her immunology drops are being formulated now and should have in a couple of days to help combat her other allergies. Will keep you all posted to her progress. Thanks for all the concern and advice. | |

I too have allergy dogs (2) and allergies are just a pain, aren't they? One of my kiddos is on the drops as well, and the upside is that they are a heck of a lot easier to give than the shots! Best of luck and hope the drops make a difference. Other things to consider while on the drops are Atopica and Apoquel. Might want to read this too: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html

| Update on Gidget Gidget is improving daily. She notices everything. I forgot to close blinds in living room and it wasn't right to her. She barked at me to close them. It was hilarious. She has really perked up and more playful. It's going to take time but we're getting there. Please keep posting any advice for us. I've learned so much and am using some of your suggestions. Thank you all for your kindness. God bless you and your babies. Prayers. |

| so happy to hear your baby is doing so much better....my vet has always said to keep a can of pumpkin, plain pureed pumpkin and offer a small amount each day, good nutritional value, calming for g.i. tract and offers baby some fiber and something as a treat.....too much and my little ones get a little loose stools, besides the vitamins esp A is good for skin..... | UPDATE: Gidget continues to get better each day. I would highly recommend anyone who experiences the same kind of problems Gidget has gone through to seek a 2nd opinion, listen & take the advice of the contributors of Yorkie Talk and read through all the threads. Knowing the right questions to ask your vet will save your baby unnecessary suffering, your nerves, time and money. A special Thank You Wylie's mom. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Please keep them coming as you can never have to many. Last if you have a tiny puppy already with problems ask your vet about starting them on a probiotic booster. I love Yorkie Talk. I thank God for you all. Prayers and best wishes to you all and your Precious Paws. |
