| Tapeworms Alrighty. Thursday I took Sammy and Callie out to go potty. Sammy went poo poo and I saw something white in it and told my mom she needed to come check his poo. She checked it and there were several little rice looking things in it and she picked one up ( with a paper towel) and showed it to me. Well Sammy hates rice and won't eat it and no one has had it and there is no way he could have had it. I did a little research and it looked like a tapeworm segment. We called the vet a Friday and described it and they said tapeworm and we could come get dewormer and they suggest Callie needed it too just incase. Well everything is saying they come from fleas but Sammy and Callie absolutely do not have fleas never have for sure, I even bathed them Wednesday and nothing. Then I did see something about rats and rabbits carrying them and at my house and my moms we both have rabbits that some how get in the fence. I just am so confused how he got tapeworms. Any ideas?

| Gee, not sure which worm looks like what, but all very natural. Whatever causes dogs to get worms is common in the environment, so just give the medicine as directed and all should be well. Quickest way to get everything right is have your vet look at the poop and prescribe accordingly, but there are some general purpose worming meds out there that should take care of your probelm.

| Taylor, I think we have a regional epidemic of tapeworm. I'm kidding, but really, I just went through this with Max: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...tapeworms.html No sign of fleas here either, but as Cathy wrote on my thread, fleas are everywhere. The squirrels and the bunnies have them. It wouldn't take much for a doggie who goes outside to swallow a flea and end up with a tapeworm.

| They only gave me meds for Max. I am watching Teddy and inspecting poop closely. He is going for his annual exam soon, so he will have his stool tested.

| Word of caution? Make sure you pick up the poop as soon as he is done. If the pup steps in the others poop it is very easy to lick the segments off of a foot.
