| An Episode of Stumbling and Loss of Balance My sweet little Poppy (a 2 year old Biewer Terrier) had a strange episode of stumbling and loss of balance. Yesterday, Poppy and I were lying in bed and she was napping. When I got up, she got up as well, and I picked her up and put her on the floor. I walked over to my desk to grab something, but when I looked back I noticed she was stumbling, uncoordinated as she was walking down the hallway. I immediately rushed over to her and picked her up. She seemed alert and was definitely not having a seizure. I placed her down to see if she could stand, at first she was a bit wobbly, but then seconds later she was back to her normal self, playing, walking fine, as if nothing had happened. I didn't want to chance anything so I took her to the ER vet. Her vitals and physical exam came out normal and the vet couldn't find anything alarming or wrong with her. I explained to the vet that she was eating, drinking, pooping/peeing fine, but the only thing I noticed that day was that she was burping a bit more than usual which the doctor just told me to give her some pepcid. So the vet said without further testing, we don't really know what could have happened, it could be a number of things, anything from liver shunt to a heart issue or it may have not been anything serious at all. I decided to observe her overnight and see if this episode would happen again before having to do all sorts of testing on her. Today she's completely normal and has been burping less thanks to the pepcid. I'm just baffled as to what happened yesterday and wondering if anyone has ever encountered an episode like this?

| Sorry to read about your scary incident with Poppy. Hopefully it will not happen again. Have you checked her ears to make sure there is no ear infection as that sometimes will cause a balance issue. If there is another incident perhaps you could record it on your phone to show your Vet. Best wishes for Poppy.

| One of my girls did something similar about a week ago but she had been eating and I think she took too big of a bite and her food got stuck in her throat. It was from a roll of dry dog food and she grabbed a big chunk! So glad I was right there! I picked her up blew in her face and put my finger in her mouth. She was ok after that but I threw her food away and watched her for the rest of the day. She hasn't done it since thank God! Glad your baby is ok!!!

| Mine did this 3 separate times, 6 months apart each time, normal check at the vet each time. I was finally able to relate it to his dose of Trifexis. Stopped the drug, no more problems. He had been on Trifexis for a year without any problems prior to this. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-trifexis.html
