| Looking for anyone with eperience w/LYMPHOMA My 11 yr. old mix breed was diagnosed with Lymphoma last week. His name is Bisquit. There are more test that have to be done to determine if it is T-cell or B-cell. Then the decision on how to treat or not. He is currently on pain meds. I just went through Melanoma with my girl Jasmine and after radiation treatments had to let her go on October 19, 2014. Her quality of life was not great but the tumor in her mouth was gone. When the Oncologist originally x-rayed her she said there was no cancer in her lungs and then 2 months later it had spread there. If I decide not to put Bisquit through Chemo then he will be placed on Predizone. I have a huge decision to make in such a short time so that is why I am looking to my fellow YTr's that may have gone through this before. Any input would be most appreciated.

| This cancer stuff in dogs seems to be getting sooooooo common....my brother lost both his large breed dogs to cancer, Fred, a shepherd mix, and Missy, a collie. I am so sorry about YOUR news....seems like you have not even had time to catch your breath and you are getting slammed yet again. I have not had any dogs that were diagnosed with a specific cancer....Hailee was running and playing one minute and by 10am, she was in severe respiratory distress, and after a frantic trip to the vet, xrays that show metastatic cancer throughout her lungs, I let her go to Rainbow Bridge....so all I know is the horrible pain of loosing a baby to this terrible disease.....praying for you, for strength to confront this challenge, and wisdom and guidance to know what will be the best outcome for your baby and you..... |

| Thank you everyone! The Oncologist has given me the protocol for T-Cell and B-cell. I just don't know how well Bisquit will handle 3+ hrs. of being in my car twice a week, being in a strange place + chemo and all the other drugs. I know the chemo doses are lower for dogs and I hear that they tolerate it well but for such a tuff guy he was really out of his element last week going to my vet and then straight to Gulf Coast. I have a call into my vet to ask more questions and also see what this will do to his quality of life but I think I already know the answer??? I was already told that he would not be cured and same as Jasmine it would only buy him more time with us. Estimated 1 yr. with B-cell and 6 mos. with T-cell. Less than that on Predizone. I just don't know if I should put him through all of this! My DH is leaning towards no especially after our experience with Jasmine but I don't want to take anything away from Bisquit. He deserves our total decision to based on him and his condition. Thank God that none of you have experienced this and I sincerely hope you never do. Linda, I don't know how you keep from going nuts with everything you deal with on a daily basis!

| Joyce, I just want to send you and DH big hugs. I have no advice but a lot of caring and compassion as you are faced with this difficult decision. I know you will do what is right and unselfish for Bisquit, and I'm so darn sorry you have to face it all now after recently losing Jasmine.

| My twin sisters black Labrador had Lymphoma must have been over 12 years ago. I can't remember what type it was but she decided she would not put her dog through chemo. He was a well built dog and he went down very quickly. As he would not eat she decided it would be in the dogs best interest to put him to sleep. I remember that day so clearly. We took him to the beach, then to the vets. It was a very peaceful passing. Of course we cried all the way home as Baz was my sisters first dog. I am sure you will make the best decision for your pup .Big hugs xxx |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I am so very sorry Joyce. And yes I lost my Zoey 2 years ago to Lymphoma. She was very young, not even 4 yrs old, and so we tried to buck the serious odds and go with chemo. It did not work for us. Predisone can alleviate for a time many symptoms and relieve pain from the swelling, but she should also have some pain relievers as well. You need to know what stage the cancer is at. We were already at stage 4, she had a very aggressive form of Lymphoma. She did tolerate the chemo treatments very well. And we knew the grim odds going in. But for me, now I would not elect chemo, with the odds we were faced with, and the financial burden. I would do the predisone, and cherish each and every day you have left with your sweetie.

| Four years ago my sweet long hired chi had lymphoma. I had rescued her a year before & she a just 4 years old. We went with prednisone & she lived a few more months before I brought her to the vet for her final visit. I never regretted going that route with my sweet baby. My final 2 months with Roxy were filled with love. When she could no longer climb the stairs to get onto the bed I spent the last 6 weeks sleeping on the floor on an air mattress with her. She loved her food & near the end I gave her the "best" foods I could think of: ice cream & liverwurst made her very happy. I do remember someone here on YT about a year ago choosing to do chemo & her dog died within about a week or 2 of starting the chemo. Good luck to you & Bisquit.

| Thank you!! I have read all of your post and appreciate your input and kind words so much. My brain and my heart are telling me two different things. I hate when that happens!! His prescription for the Predizone is in but that seems so final. I was told that once he starts it and is on it for more than 3 days we will not be able to do the Chemo. I think the CBC & other tests will tell me enough to make a decision, Predizone, Chemo or other. The pain meds are helping and there have been no changes in his activity level compared to last week anyway. He's still eating well and going outside. He has very thick blonde hair so I know he's enjoying the cooler mornings and evenings. He always loved the fall and winter months. I will update again soon. For those of you that have been through this before I am very very very sorry!!!

| Joyce once again, my heart is breaking for you. I have been where you are. My last 3 Yorkies I lost to cancer. I lost them all in a time period of 11 months. It was 3 different cancer's. Due to other medical issues each of them had, I made the choice of not putting them Chemo. They did have pain med's and also I used the Pred as well. Mine that I lost were 12, 13 and 14 1/2 yrs old. Sending out prayers for you during this difficult time.
