| Question about bandage..... J.J. has a bandage on his foot. The vet stressed not to remove it, to wait until he has to come back in. He goes back this Friday......J.J. was so scruffy looking and he smelled like a dirty sock so I wrapped a plastic bag around his foot with some tape wrapped around the top. Well, it didn't work to well. Water did get in and his bandage is damp, but not soggy. My sense is telling me to remove it, should I? I don't really see any harm if I try and put a clean bandage back on. This is what they have on... GetAttachment.aspx.jpg

| I wanted to ask them but they are closed right now I can ask in the morning but I'm just not feeling comfortable leaving this on damp through the night.

| Yes, I would be back at the vet before Friday. You did not say why he has a bandage on his foot, but if it does not have to be on it, I would remove it now. Wet bandages are not good.

| That's what I was feeling...A damp bandage on a fresh wound doesn't feel right to me.....He had a precancerous growth removed about a week ago on his toe.

| If you have some gauze, you could rewrap it loosely tonight.

| Ok ...Thanks again.....I know it seems so obvious but I keep hearing them saying, "Don't remove that bandage." I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Now, of course, I am not a vet..haha....but if it were my pup I would do it. If it were something like a fracture, I might be tempted to go to the EC rather than risk messing things up. This is different..it is just a healing wound.

| J.J. is doing great....I had a heck of a time trying to find the end of the bandage to remove it. I unwrapped it one revolution and it felt dry under that. The dampness was just on the surface and J.J. was freaking out so I left the rest on until this morning. The vet removed it and left it unwrapped. When we got home he wouldn't stop licking it so I wrapped it back up in gauze. That seemed to stop him. Thanks for asking about him. I got the pathology back it appears to have been a plasmacystoma.

| So glad it all went ok. Does he need any further treatment?

| Happy to hear the gauze is doing the trick and that you don't have to resort to the cone. Praying for J.J. that the removal of the plasmacystoma is all that was needed and no further treatment.
