| Cotton bud stuck in ear ! Help Whilst cleaning Lotties ear a cotton bud tip has broken off down her ear canal, the vets are closed what is the best thing to do. Should I put drops in or not to try and dislodge it.

| I am not an expert, but I would find an emergency vet right away. Something like that could cause an infection, and that probably doesn't feel very good for the pup. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Yikes. Will she sit still or can someone hold her and try gently to remove it with a tweezer. I wouldn't try that unless you absolutely think you won't push it farther in. Do you have emergency vets by you? If so, I would run her in to have it removed. I hope you can get it out.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Yikes is right ! Please be careful . . what ever you do. Make sure that if you try and remove it yourself, get some help. You must be confident that your pup will sit absolutely still when attempting this or else you could cause more harm. FIY: Next time just use a cotton ball not a Q-tip.

| Thanks for the replies. Lottie has been to the vet and had it sorted , they said she was so good and they got it without sedation. I have always cleaned their ears with cotton buds , every week for 9 years , but no more just got some ear cleanser and will be using cotton wool from now on, what a fright I got, it just came clean off and could not even see it !!!

| I was complaining to DH the other day... I think the quality of Q-Tips has decreased immensely. Now I always give the tips a tug and twist the cotton on tighter before using them. I use them for polishing small metal objects too and they just fall apart so easily... years ago I could use one all day long!

| I agree with you on the quality of q-tips. They used to be wonderful and so strong. Not anymore. Really got to be careful. |

| Glad for Lottie! You know, it's only bc they're Yorkies that a simple routine act of cleaning the ears would end up requiring a trip to the vet!
