| Any of your friends ever have HGE? My Oscar is currently at the hospital being treated for HGE. Never thought this would happen to my little guy Has anyone else's doggies have had this before? Just curious and if you have any good info about recovery, I'd love to know

| Yes, my Peek A Boo had it twice (recurred after the 1st treatment)... most recover but best when caught very early on (quicker recovery, shorter length of treatment in hospital).

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Cali had it twice. The first time it was very severe. I would take her to my vet during the day and they would giver her IV fluids and medicines. I brought her home each night with the IV port in and would take her back the next day for the same. She was much better in about 5 days. The second time she got it I recognized she was not feeling well and we caught it just in time. They gave her Sub Q fluids and medicine and she was much better in a couple of days. I hope Oscar makes a full and speedy recovery. They say once they have it it can reoccur. Cali only had the 2 bouts within a short period of time and that was 4 or more years ago. She does have colitis so at the first sign of tummy troubles I have medicine to give her.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | my Macy has had it & was hospitalized for 3 days- very scarey! She now eats prescript food only & green beans. We think she got bacteria from a knuckle bone we got at a local farm store. They both have had them before, only Macy got sick.

| 3 days?! Oh man. That stinks. I never thought about taking and IV poked Oscar home with me...wish I thought about that sooner. I called the vet and still haven't heard back from them. No news is good news right? At least that's what I hope...

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would call and ask for an update. If he's doing better maybe you can bring him home at night. Mine do so much better at home. If he is still in need of intensive care then he is better off at the vets as long as someone is with him at night. Please keep us posted.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That's great! I think Cali got hers from a cow hoof that they use to like to chew on. Threw them all out and never gave them another one.

| My Gina had this. It was not caught early. Five days in hospital with transfusions everyday and she died. Terrible suffering and even after four years I still can't think about the end without crying.

| Oscar is doing OK...I think the IV really hurt him (the vet told us it's been bothering him all day). He's moving around which is good but is whining a bit. I'm hoping he gets back to his old self soon!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It took Cali a good week after treatment to feel better if I remember. Not only the disease but being at the vet and the medicines combined make them sleepy. Rest is good right now. He should be back to himself soon.

| Toby had it a few years ago.........three times all within a very short period of time. First time I had no idea what was going on and we almost lost him.........by the second time, I was well aware what to watch for and quickly took him to the vet for treatment. I switched him to home cooked foods and he never came down with it again. Not sure it had anything to do with it......but it helped or maybe it was just coincidental. It is a very scary condition. Just recently, I switched back to some hard kibble (Orijen Regional) along with ziwipeak venison and he is doing great so far. But he fully recovered!!!!

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Hope he is doing better today! We have Macy on prescription canned & hard Science Diet I/D food & she is doing extremely well. She is now a healthy 3lbs & looks so healthy. It has been about 3 years ago that her 2 incidents happened.
