| Oliver isn't feeling well. Hi, my name is Cheryl. My grandpuppy's name is Oliver. He's 4 years old and my only "grandchild". He is the sweetest dog I have ever owned and or met! He's not feeling well and I wondered if anyone else's Yorkie has had similar symptoms. Two nights ago he was vomiting and had diarrhea. Since then he has eaten some turkey and some rice but has been extremely lathargic. Although he doesn't normally eat table food on Christmas day we gave him some turkey that was cooked with some garlic salt on the skin. Could the garlic have made him sick? Getting pretty worried at this point. Planning on calling the vet as soon as it opens but wasn't sure if I was overreacting. My daughter (Oliver's mom) is in the military so we take care of him quite a bit but I have never seen him like this. Any thoughts Thanks Cheryl |

| Hi there. I haven't had this experience, but garlic is on the list of foods that dogs shouldn't have. I would definitely take him to the vet for an exam. EDIT - saw that you contacted the vet. How did that go? Please let us know ok? Praying for your baby.

| I agree the garlic couldve upset his belly.....and if he's not used to table food that will upset his belly for sure. Hoping Oliver is doing better after seeing the vet.

| What does his breath smell like? I would seek vet consult ASAP. I don't mean to alarm you but this is how kidney failure presented itself to my Mr. Mogli. He could also just not be feeling well. Get him to drink plenty of water if at all possible. Sending good vibes ...

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I would get him to a vet. No table food for Yorkies. Mine have a very sensitive stomach and the least amount of strange food sets them off. I hope Oliver will be healthy again and only gets his dog food. |

| How is Oliver doing? Depending on the turkey, it can be loaded with salt. The skin is loaded with fat. If the turkey was basted with butter or oils, that adds to the fat content. Way too much for a small dog to handle. I hope the vet was able to get Oliver on his way to recovery.

| Oliver is feeling better Thank you all for the replies. We did take him to the emergency vet but they couldn't find anything wrong. The only thing the vet found was a little stiffness when she palpitated his neck. She suspected that he may have a compressed disc. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory, a pain killer and an antibiotic. He was feeling better within an hour. The vet on base will see him on Thursday. Thanks for your support and kind words. I'll keep you posted. |

| Glad to hear.... I'm in the process of learning about ours.. so small, so fragile. I can see we are feeding ours too much fatty people food... he loves it, but we have to stop spoiling him so. |
