| I'm not sure about an actual hip "replacement". But I'm not an expert. I do know about a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) where the head of the femur/hip joint is basically cut off. The joint is not replaced. Once it is gone, it heals & develops its own fibrous scar tissue so that the joint is no longer bone−to-bone. It becomes a "false joint" & functions like a normal joint. Price varies depending on where you live. But FHO surgery performed by a board certified orthopedic surgeon in the NYC area is about $2500. That would be for the actual procedure plus anesthesia, medications, etc. Hope that helps.

| Zoey had FHO surgery but I did look into hip replacement. It was $5000.00 in so cal. The ortho surgeon was very honest with me regarding the possibility of having to do a second surgery years later as he explained that the glue that is inserted in the bone cracks over time and would need to be replaced.
