| Sour Odor? I've been a lurker for a while, and I've usually found the advice I've needed by looking through the threads, which is awesome. I've got a year old male, Winston, who is completely healthy (according to my vet) except in the last 6 weeks, he's developed a sour odor that seems to originate from his face or beard? When the smell first developed, we took him to the vet, and he thought it was a possible yeast infection in his ear, and they gave him antibiotics. However, the smell didn't go away, and we brought him back in for further testing. On our 2nd visit to the vet, a skin scraping was done, and we were told that his skin is completely healthy. Our vet suggested that it was possibly something in his diet that is causing the odor. We've changed his food back to wellness, and the smell is still there. Now i'm completely at a loss at what's causing the smell!!! Has anyone else encountered this? Could it be possibly some other issue? Thanks so much in advance!! |

| Possibly eye gook. Or in my girl Sissy's case the worms she rolls in out in the yard. That smell is enough to knock you over.

| I would also say it could be eye gook/discharge. Sometimes June's face smells kinda funky and sour-ish after his eyes have been on particularly teary and gooey streak. Kind of like a dirty old dish rag, hehe! |

| Thanks a lot! That's what I thought it might be. I guess I'll just be more viligant about cleaning his eyes! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | There can be a sour / strong odor that comes from eye gunk. Some of give bottled water and this seems to help for some dogs (not all).
