Senior Yorkie Talker | So sad for Kaytlyn She had been pulling at her left ear yesterday and she kinda was whining with it last night so I took her to the vet this morning and to my surprise she has ear mites...I just can't believe it. The vet said it looks like she has had them for awhile. I am so sad. I feel so bad for her. I had been taking her to a different vet and they were closed today so I took her to a new one that just opened up. I am glad I did and I think I will keep using them. I can't believe the other vet never said a word about it and I just had her there a few weeks ago. I don't know much about them. They gave us meds for her and said she should be fine very soon. I just feel so bad cuz I should have known sooner.

Senior Yorkie Talker | The vet told me that they most likely get them from other dogs. But she hasn't really been around any other dogs since her mom passed. So I really don't know.

| That Stinks I hope they clear up soon. Can you see them with the naked eye? If so, what do they look like? Is there an ear smell or anything besides the ear tugging that you can notice? Thanks!

| I have always smelled the ear canal on new dogs (rescues) because it will usually smell bad if a dog has mites or an infection. You might not always see the black in their ears but if there is an odor then you know something is going on in the canal. You should only be able to smell a normal dog smell.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Girl - If you saw no signs of them and she just started showing symptoms - how could you know ? These things happen and the good thing is you got treatment and she'll be ok - you're a good mom and don't feel guilty... |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks V. She hates her meds. She shakes her head when you put the drops in. I just keep telling her it will make her all better. I guess the thing that bothers me the most is that I don't know how she got them.

| I hope your baby is feeling better, I know that ear mites are no fun for baby or mommy. Perhaps it was a lucky strike for you that the other vet was closed yesterday and that you found a new vet. I try to find something positive out of unfortunate events, and maybe this is it. Having a good vet can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency and it is good to have one BEFORE an emergency arrises. |

| My cat has ear mites, too. I feel so bad for him. He's always shaking his head and scratching his ears. And he sure does hate the ear drops. Atleast you caught them now, and you can't make the itching stop!

| Do you have to put the drops in the ears for several days? Or is it the Milbecide that goes in only once?? |
