| Ginger and PLE issues Hi...Once again it has been awhile since I've been on here but need some advice. Without going through the entire story again I'll try to be brief. Ginger is now 10 years old, he was diagnosed with PLE in 2010. Since that time he has been on Budesonide daily, diet consists of Potato/Rabbit only. He has been through so much with his teeth that in June 2013 most of them had to be pulled. Since that time he has sneezing fits while eating. Our vet referred him to a Vet Dentist that we are to see on Oct. 7, she is thinking he has a fistula caused by not healing properly after the teeth removal. I am a wreck in putting him through another surgery, wondering if he will heal properly after being on steroids for 3 years. I have to mention that he has lost all his fur and am told he may never get his beautiful coat again. He is down to 5 pounds, looks so pathetic I could cry. Do I keep putting him through this agony or keep fighting????? Could someone help me through this decision, please. |

| What is his normal weight? Does he take high doses of steroids? Is he on supplements? Why has he lost his coat? Has anyone suggested Melatonin for him? That does help hair regrowth...you might want to ask about that. I have a pup with PLE so that is why I am asking. As to the dentist...the fact that you are being referred to a specialist is good. He/she should be able to tell you about the risks involved if there are any. My Cookie who has lymphangectasia recently had surgery for a torn ligament and recovered just fine...she is on steroids and healed quite well. She also had a dental this year. How are Gingers protein levels? If they are ok, I would think he might be ok with the dentist....the dentist I used recently for one of my high risk pups was VERY thorough and did a full medical work up first.

| Ginger is Gone Just wanted you all to know that Ginger never made it to the Vet Dentist Specialist, he was scheduled for last Monday, Oct. 7 but Thursday he began vomiting, diarrhea started again, became very weak. I took him to his IM specialist and he was hospitalized, given fluids and everything they could do to help him overcome his problems. By Sunday he had aspirated, gotten pneumonia and was oh so sick.....he left me Monday morning for the Rainbow Bridge. I am heartbroken. |

| So sorry for your heartbreaking loss. Know that you did what you could as a loving parent and comfort yourself in that knowledge.
