| need advice about rescued yorkie Hello to all. I'm new to this community. My husband and I just adopted a poor little yorkie who had been abandoned by his owner at a boarding facility. We know that he is 13 years old, has badly bowed front legs, and my need some dental work. He has refused the commercial, senior dog food we bought so my husband is cooking him rice and chicken or beef. Moments ago he had a copious, soft, bloody stool. He seems fine otherwise but we're worried. Does anyone have any advice? |

| God bless you for saving this little angel. How is he this morning? I would suggest that you take him to the vet for a check-up, especially if he is having bloody stools. This could be something serious or just the change in diet, but I think he needs to be seen. Please keep us updated on him! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Definitely be good to take him to a vet and get him all checked out. Was his stool previously firm on something else he was being fed? If so, I might be tempted to going back to that food depending upon what it was. Did the boarding facility have any info on his health history and food history? Bless your big heart for welcoming this precious one into your home . Poor fella, being abandoned like that...wonder why his owner did that to him .

| my rescued little old man The little sweet heart is resting in his little bed. He didn't want breakfast. I offered a scrambled egg then a small bit of raw hamburger as he'd eaten that the day before but he refused. He went on his morning walk just fine with my husband. He's bonded with my husband! we're taking him for his first vet visit with us later today. I'm afraid of what the vet will say! Little Action Jackson, that's what we're calling him, doesn't walk very well due to the deformity of his front legs, he has some sort of jaw/teeth problem, and we're not sure he hears or sees very well. But we're loving him anyway; he deserves a nice old age and rest of his life! |

| Yes, I need to talk to the lady at the boarding place. I work with rescued feral kittens socializing them for new homes next door to a grooming place. The lady at the groomers knows I love yorkies, we had rescued a yorkie afew years ago who was elderly too. She came and told me about Action Jackson. They we go7ng to groom him and put his picture up on Facebook to make a last appeal to the real owner who'd abandoned him. After getting no response we took him from the lady at the groomers. She'd offered to bring him into work with her s7nce she l7ves closer to the boarding place. |

| Thanks for asking! I called the lady who runs the the doggie boarding place and she told me her vet gave him a very small amount of pepto. It seemed to work; he's not had anymore episodes. He seems to really prefer cooked chicken so that's what we're doing. He's spending most of h7s time in his bed asleep. I think he's been through a terrible ordeal for a little man his age! I just hope we can make his life much better from here on out.

| Aw, so glad you took Jackson in. I would feed him boiled chicken, rice and a little bit of canned pumpkin. I would steer away from beef of any kind. My little guy can't handle it at all. I also add frozen green beans or peas too. Just thaw out in warm water. This should help the stools, especially the pumpkin. Best of luck! |
