| Betty Boop - possible Seizure I had the scare of my life this morning. The vet said it is possible that what happened was a seizure OR a reaction to paint/stain in the house. He didn't want to start Phenobarbital unless she has them more often. I told him we had our bathroom cabinets stained. We weren't in the house because of the smell. However, we aired out the house before going back in. The vet said that would have no toxicity, though, but it could've given her a reaction. She could barely walk using her hind legs. She was very weak. When she reached our den, her head started bobbing very slowly, side to side. Then, she started shivering like she was cold. It only lasted a couple of minutes and was not violent at all. She looked a little scared. She understood me when I talked to her. I immediately took her to the vet. He also did complete blood work and it was all normal. Her eyes, ears, and heart were perfect. Does this sound like a seizure?

| Lila, I can imagine how scary this was for you. If Betty Boop was reacting to lingering fumes from the stain, I would think that her reaction would last longer than a couple minutes. I'm glad you took her to vet right away and that she checked out perfectly. Praying for her that the episode was an unexplained anomaly that won't happen again. Any possibility she was stung or bitten by something?

| I know you were so scared. You are such a good momma to react so quickly. Sending prayers for sweet Boop and good vibes this will never happen again. Hugs from Zhoie to her BFF.

| Lila, I am so sorry...how scary. You might want to consider an internal med specialist. Has she ever been bile acid tested?

We don't have an Internal Specialist here that I know of. I would take her to Texas A&M. Do you know one there? I'm sure Austin would have one. It's about the same distance.

| Fumes will settle low to the floor. Try keeping her up on the couch or the bed if possible.

| If you had her tested before, I am sure it is not that. It very well could have been the fumes!

| I bet the solvent vapors from the paint/stain made her a little high.

| Doesn't really sound like a seizure to me, but there are many different types of seizure, they are not all violent in nature...but I'm thinking it was the fumes. I'll keep her in my prayers, hope she has no further reactions. Watch her close...

| if the stain was not toxic, I dont understand how it could have affected her so much. Do you think she licked the doors? Regardless, glad she is ok. So scary when something goes wrong. |

| Betty Boop has been doing great. She had her episode three days after the cabinets were stained. The smell was still in the house but wasn't that strong anymore. We've been staying in our RV for the past two months while we are renovating so she wasn't exposed to fresh fumes. I just don't know. I'll be watching her close and praying it doesn't happen again. It was sad seeing her like that.
