Yorkie Talker | Marijuana ingestion After taking our 11 month old Jules to the park for a walk (first time at this park)... I noticed cigarette butts and beer bottle caps littered by most of the benches. She was still acting like her playful/energetic self after coming home but a couple of hours later after coming back from dinner we noticed Jules looking really sleepy. She wouldn't eat her treat and her head was not staying still, it was moving from side to side, shaking and she had the look of being tired... she then tried to walk and lost her balance and fell. I thought it was hypoglycemia and gave her some energy tube paste (sorry forgot the name), she licked it and ate it just fine but her head kept shaking... That's when we panicked and took her to the after hours emergency clinic. The Vet told us two scenarios that could have happened, either she is suffering from a liver shunt issue or she could have ingested marijuana (which she mentions happens often to a lot of dogs she sees with this symptom). Her blood work came back with normal values, but the vet did say Jules' eyes were dilated... she instructed us to bring Jules to the vet if her symptoms didn't get better in 12 hours or if it worsens. I'm happy to say that she was her energetic self 6 hours later... Any of you ever experience this? I looked up youtube videos of dogs that ingest marijuana... their symptoms looked just like Jules' that night... |

| Marijuana ingestion can be determined with a simple blood test. I'm curious why the ER didn't do that. I'm glad Jules appears to be okay. The paste was probably something like Nutrical. Make sure to follow it up with regular food to prevent sugar levels from quickly dropping again.

| Don't you know you've got to keep your toys away from your pets?? LOL So happy your baby is feeling "better". Actually sounds scary to me.

| o.O I'd have never thought about that being at a park, but it makes sense! Mine would eat it if she saw it! She's good about eating ANYTHING that isn't her food! BAD DOG CINDERS! BAD!!

One way to tell the difference between the two possibilities....did Jules have the munchies after? If she was begging to go to T-bell...then you know she ingested a lil Seriously, glad to hear she's doing well know
