| My Yorkie Vomits Every Weekend Hi Everyone My 6 year old 6 pound Yorkie Cali has been vomiting for a few weeks now. It started a few weekends ago when she vomited "yellow foamy" bile all weekend. of course by the time Monday came around and I called the vet she was all better. The following 2 weekends the same thing happened. she would vomit but only on the weekend. During the week she is fine but as soon as Saturday rolls around she would vomit at least twice. It got to the point where she started to smell like bile. I called the vet again this time we made an appointment and they told me to watch her pattern and see what is changing to cause this reaction. Her temperament hasnt change, she is eating normally but still vomiting. this past Saturday when she threw up I noticed there was hair in her vomit so now Im thinking it must be she eats my hair while I am blow drying it on the weekends. Cali finally had her appointment with the vet today. Thank goodness they found nothing wrong but they did tell me that yorkies sometime have gastrointestinal issues and they suggested I change her food. She currently eats Nutro Natural Choice for toy breeds but the vet suggested a food called Taste of the Wild. I have never heard of this brand before. I an not doubting my vet but I think I would feel a little more comfortable knowing that other yorkie parents were doing the same. I guess I just want to know if anyone else has experience the same issues with their yorkie and 2. Do any of you feed your yorkie Taste of the Wild and what flavor would you suggest? Sorry this post is so long I just want to make sure I included as much info as I can to get good feedback Thanks |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Roxie was having problems with regurgitation. She was diagnosed with reflux. The vet put her on prilosec, prednisone and an antibiotic. She was gradually weaned off all of the medicine and has been much better. Is it possible you sleep in on weekends and she goes a little longer between meals. Sometimes when their tummies are empty they can throw up bile. I hope you can figure out what the problem is.

| Is she fed at the same time every morning ? If not this could be the problem as she could be developing acid stomach. Often if their tummies are empty for too long they produce too much acid & it makes them vomit bile. Last edited by lillymae; 07-31-2013 at 08:44 PM. |

| Ziva had a random problem like this. A groomer told me "too many greens" I had been feeding her green beans -she can have 3-4 but anymore than that she will throwup the next day (seemingly unconnected to the beans so many hours later..) We used to feed TOTW , pacific stream- I really liked it for the probiotics it has but we got caught up in two recalls and switched to Earthborn Holistics, coastal catch- my dogs seem better able to digest the fish proteins in these foods. |

| Vomiting yellow bile usu means an empty stomach but a dog can vomit bc they're allergic/intolerant of an ingredient in a food too. Turbo used to throw up bile & sometimes his food & I found out it was pumpkin. Some dogs do not do well w/a lot of fiber, making them throw up. If she's getting any treats, I would stop that 1st. If she stops vomiting, then it was something in the treats. You can also feed her a little food b4 bedtime so she doesn't wake up w/an empty stomach. When was her last check up, full blood panel, urinalysis? It's best to rule out any underlying diseases.
