| Sudden Ataxia and Vomiting Marley sometimes get these weird episodes that last around 5 minutes, and these episodes only happen every 2 or 3 months, or when he exercises vigorously. When these episodes occur, his walk looks uncoordinated and then he falls to his side. It seems like he looses control of his hind legs and can't even stand up, and will end with him vomiting. By the time I get to the vet his symptoms are gone and acts like nothing happened, thus the vet is not able to determine what is wrong. At first we thought he ate something bad from the backyard, but then other episodes would occur after vigorous play. His last episode happened last night around 1:30 am, and then a few minutes later he was fine. I don't feel this is normal. I'm worried, and feel anxious not knowing whats causing this. I took him to the vet this morning and we had his blood taken to the lab. Just waiting for his results. Right now Marley is active and eats and drinks fine. Has anyone heard of this before? |

| It sounds almost like a seizure, but instead of him having bowel movement/ urinating, he vomits...I'm sorry he's going through this & hope you'll get some answers soon.

| Poor Marley. I can imagine how frightening this is for you. Has your vet done any blood tests?

| They have the capabilities to do in depth diagnostic testing at a vet school...he needs to be seen by a specialist, that has the equipment and knowledge base to get your baby diagnosed....you are correct....this is NOT normal. |

| Huey has done this twice in 1 year. Unsteady gait, unfocused eyes, lethargy, vomited yellow foam... Of course, both times we went straight to the vet, had labs done, etc. The 2nd time he had a urinary tract infection, the 1st time, nothing. The vet suggested that it might have been a seizure (I didn't see the start of either episode) and he was possibly post-ictal (the groggy, out of it state after a seizure), especially since yorkies are prone to seizures. She did say that if this behavior increased in frequency that we could do a neuro work up, but even if it IS seizures, 2 in one year, or even 2 in 6 months is not something they would medicate. He hasn't done it again, so I will continue to just watch him, but you better believe that I will be at the vet immediately AGAIN if it happens again. I agreed with my vet that a full neuro work up, MRI, etc, might be a little much for just 2 episodes that he completely recovered from in a few hours each, but she DID give me the option of the full neurological assessment. I tried to get the 2nd episode on video, but it was very hard to see that he was swaying back and forth... Good luck and go with your gut feelings. If you think something is wrong, stay on it until you get the answers you are satisfied with. I stopped short of the whole workup because I felt comfortable with the probable/possible diagnosis and with a wait and see attitude, but if I had felt that something was bad wrong, I would not have stopped until I had my answers.

| Praying for Marley that the test results will reveal what is going on so that the doctors can determine the right treatment to prevent these episodes.
