| My pup has demodex I think? Or maybe something worse?? We took her to the vet for bloodwork for a dna test and they thought she mite have demodex and to keep a close eye on her for change. However since I was already there I told then just to test her instead of me coming back in another week. It turned out she did have it. So they put her on a shampoo for it that I was supposed to use on her 3 times a week for a month. After week one I noticed Minnie looked off. She had a red rash lol over her and the demodex was made worse. It turned out she had an allergic reaction to the shampoo. They then put her on a pill to take care of the reaction which did work however caused her to have a bacterial infection. Then another pill was given which did work as well. Now for the demodex they put her on a pill for it that she's been in for a few weeks now and I don't see a change at all if anything it's worse. She's losing alot if hair and not like normal puppy hair loss. Her feet are pretty much dry baldness and as well as the rest of her has flakes sll over snd I noticed a bald spot on her back. I took her to the vet last week cuz I was concerned that there was no change and she's still itching alot and they said with her size and the doseage she needs she really only started the correct doseage the other day and after that I should start working. Does this sound like demodex or do you think it mite be something else?? |

Cinders got a bald spot from using frontline. She had a major reaction to it, and it caused her to loose hair where I applied it at. So, maybe, if you used a topical flea prevention on her, that may have caused the bald spot. Make sure you point it out to the vet or specialist when you go back.

| It sounds like mange to me I heard the pill form can take a liittle while before you notice a difference. When my chachi had it the vet did sulfer dips and we noticed a change right away but it took a while for his hair to come back

| Well, I didn't even see this thread. I'm sorry. I should've read it before responding to the DNA thread. If it is truly a skin issue, and all of what you are trying is making things worse, I'd ask to consult with a vet dermatologist (as mentioned above). Bless her heart. I will pray for Miss Minnie to get this resolved and quit being uncomfortable. I know it's hard on you watching her itch and be uncomfortable. Hang in there!

| Before her skin condition started her hair was still short. The vet also said thst demodex wouldn't affect it to the extent that her hair is just short and not fluffy. I dunno where to go next with this. I just want her to b better |

| As others have suggested, a vet dermatologist would be best. While the cost for an exam may be more, they can often cut to the chase and come up with a diagnosis quicker and in the end it is less costly. Here is a link to help you find a board certified dermatologist: https://www.acvd.org/locator/locator.asp

| Could you possibly share some current pictures of Minnie that show her skin condition? I also am curious as to what kind of vaccinations Minnie has had and at what age her vaccinations started. I'm am just wondering if vaccinosis could be contributing to her skin condition. I hope you get some answers soon.

| I attached a few pictures of Minnie. The bald spots are hard to see because she wanted to play and not sit still. hehe. The other one shows that the major hair loss. In person I looks worse even |

| Again, I would call a vet dermatologist for an appointment and get a real diagnosis on her. Guessing is not going to help anything...the problem could continue to get worse. It does not look like cutaneous vasculitis which is what I believe someone is referring to...although it could be. Bottom line: vet!

| I agree a vet dermatologist would be your best bet. I also think a olive oil, coconut oil or emu oil shampoo would really help. Also just putting some coconut oil on her sore spots would really help. How much time does she spend outside? How old is Minnie now and how long has she had the skin problems? I sure hope you can find something to help her.

| You've been given advice by some experts with yorkie ailments. Please heade it. The "wonder what to do next" can go away with a vet and dermatologist visit. Keeping Minnie in my prayers! Hang in there, Jenn.
