| Fractured spine My poor Daisy is 3 months old and she has a fractured spine. She was attacked by a German Shepard. She is paralyzed from the lower waist down. She is also incontinent of bowel and bladder. We have taken her to a specialist and he only gave her a 1% chance to ever walk again. Both vets we talked to suggested putting her to sleep, but that's not an option for us. She is our baby. Looks like we will be ordering a wheelchair for her when the fracture heals. She originally had no feeling at all in her left back paw and deep pain in her right back paw. The vet called with an update that she now has some feeling in two toes on her left back paw. He was happy that she has made some progress, but still not hopeful about her walking. He made her a splint and she will come home in the splint and be crate confined for 2-3 months while the fracture heals. The vet also said her bladder incontinence may be a little better. My husband and I are praying for a miracle, but either way are just ready to get our sweet girl home. Last edited by boomeranddaisy; 05-04-2013 at 02:48 PM. |

| So sorry your baby was hurt so badly. Has the German Shepherd owner taken responsibility? You are angels for hanging-in with her and giving her a loving life!

| We will pray for your family and Daisy too. Brings tears to my eyes, as we are experiencing similar nerve damage in Ricky. |

| Thanks guys! We are hoping she can adjust to life in a wheelchair. The German Shepard's owner is our neighbor and he sent a text last night that said "Wish I knew what to say." |

| Thanks guys! The owner of the German Shepard is our neighbor and he hasn't said anything except "I'm sorry I wish I knew what to say." When we told him how much our vet bills are and how much she has gone through. |

| Please tell her who to make the check out to. Also a call to AC may be in order. Not as a nasty neighbor, but one concerned about other pets and CHILDREN who could be at the business end of those jaws

| Perhaps something like, "My vet has told me I really need to notify AC about this.....he worries about other animals and children, and when a dog bites a child or attacks another animal, it needs to be reported, especially in light of the amount of damage done and the cost of the medical care." See what they say then. They may offer to at least HELP with the cost of the care, if they think that will keep you from reporting it....depending on the circumstances of HOW your baby came into contact with their dog....they apparently feel they have no culpability in it. | Oh my goodness poor sweet Daisy. Many prayers going out for her. I would most certainly be down at Animal Control making a report. If that didn't work then I would make a Police Report. I have no tolerance for people that allow things like this to happen and then don't own up to the responsibility of what their pet had has done.
