YorkieTalk Newbie! | Yorkie Rash My 7 yr. old Male Yorkie has this rash on his chest, heard it is called YORKIE RASH. He has been on antibiotic 3 different times over last 3 months, along with anti-itch RX. Both help, but once rx is gone, it comes back. He scratches and is miserable. I read where it is a YEAST RASH, so i started giving him Yogurt on his a.m. and p.m. food. Maybe it is keeping it from getting worse, but it is not going away. My vet is too far away to take him, continuously. Anyone else have this problem? CURES??? |

| I have never heard of a Yorkie Rash..?? What did the Vet give you? Did the vet do a skin scraping to see if he had any fungus/ mites..? What did the vet tell you the rash was caused from? Another thing to think of- skin rashes, dry skin, missing hair, hot spots, could be signs of poor diet or allergies. If you are feeding a low quality dog food, try changing to better dog foods found in Pet Stores and these foods will not contain grains, wheat, corn, or soy all food allergies that cause these things in dogs. Foods with wheat, rice, corn, oats, barley ect. Are fillers . Wheat middling, bone meal coloring's in pet foods all will cause some kind of skin rash. Look for foods that contain real meat as the 1st ingredient and no corn or wheat. Look for foods that are all meat based, especially fish as fish contains Omega 3 and 6 for a healthy skin and coat for dogs.

| Rash Sorry that your poor boy is so uncomfortable. Never heard of Yorkie Rash I must admit, but Yorkies do get itchy allergies. If he does well on the meds, would it be possible to call the vet to ask for advice on continuing the old meds or new alternatives, even if you cannot visit due to distance? The vet could also advise if another visit is necessary. Hope he feels better soon. |
