| Coughing after Choking My mom's dog got choked on a piece of boiled chicken last night. He seemed to be fine until bed time and he started coughing and hacking like he was going to throw up. He seemed ok today until after lunch it started again. Any advice on how to get him some relief? He has Hus yearly check up at the vet first thing in the morning.

| Choking Poor baby. My dog did this once and coughed for a few hours, then he was OK. I think it was due to acid from the stomach that came up during the choking incident irritating the esophagus for a while. Perhaps some Pepto Bismol might ease the throat until he sees the vet tomorrow. Of course if he gets worse, an emergency vet is in order. Hope he feels better soon. |

| I agree that his throat is probably irritated. We brought Max to the ER once because I thought he was choking, but it was his throat that was irritated. I don't remember which med the vet gave him. Hope your mom's dog feels better soon.
