| I'd get him back on the I/D dry ASAP. To help with his digestion, or to make it easier, I'd add probiotics/digestive enzymes to the I/D. I definitely would not feed him anymore of the lowfat food. If this is an allergic reaction, no different than a bee sting, and each time he eats this his reaction will get worse and could become life threatening. (similar to peanut/shellfish allergies in people). I'd get to the vet's in the AM and get some of the regular I/D dry for him. You know he's okay on this so I'd continue until his system settles down, then in a few weeks try a food change to the HA or another type. You may want to wait for the BAT resultss at least, as you may need to adjust his food as a result of the BAT.

| I know many have had great results feeding Purina HA, but I felt the need to point this out: TBHQ... An Unsafe Preservative Lurking in Your Dog's Food I would probably feed the HA if I couldn't find anything else that suited him. Tink was on Hill's P L/D... it's actually low protein but higher in fat... livers need fat to do their work...

| I feel so bad that Tibbe is still having such a hard time. I thought he had gotten better. I really wonder about the heartguard and a possible allergy. If not that, possibly a food allergy. I am praying for him and also for you. I hope you are both feeling much better soon.

| He's finally stopped rubbing his face and body all over everything but he's very very restless. He will sleep about 15 mins and then he's up and changing positions from the couch to the floor and then he'll be there 15 mins and back to the couch and so it has gone for the last 1 1/2 hours now. He refuses all good or even sugar water to lick off the finger anyway so I can't get food into him except by force and I know he ate at the vet at least 12 hours ago and had 4 pieces of kibble I crushed and put the crumbs in his mouth little by little when we first got home from vet. But he stands with his little head hanging down and licking his lips a bit so I think - think - he may still be nauseated. At 12:17 am I gave him another 1/8 of his Cerenia 24 mg. as he vomited that white stuff up only 20 mins after his earlier dose of Cerenia. Am hoping that bit will make up for any he hadn't absorbed yet when he vomited and help him settle. My little dog actually looks tired in his face and eyes. This constant restlessness just started last evening and has pretty much continued. His ears feel cool now and his tummy cooler but not yet normal-feeling. But thank goodness that constant need to scratch his face/body has stopped and he hasn't scratched his belly with his hind feet for quite some time now. Bad itching in a dog is akin to severe pain in the stress it places on them it seems to this observer. Except they seem to handle much of their pain quietly and stoically - itching is active toil for them. I never ever hope to see him go through that again. I just heard some soft snoring over Tibbe's way at the end of the couch on my feet and it's 12:47 am - maybe the Cerenia at work. So I'm going to lie down and see if I can catch a nap. Thannk you all so very much for all of this help. It makes all the difference. I don't feel Tibbe and I are alone at all in this - far from it.

| He's been mostly sleeping since last post. I dozed and woke to find him on the den floor lying down but after a bit, he got back onto my feet on the couch and settled right back down. No more wretching or spitting up and no bowel sounds/gas or thankfully, no more itching! I'm so glad I gave him that bigger dose of Benadryl - though I was too scared to give the full vet dose in case in hyped him up like it did last night. That and the just not getting any more of that food may have worked together to stop her allergic reaction. And thankfully I had that Cerenia on hand. And Crystal to ask!!! She's priceless at a time like that. Well, he's breathing normally and his ears and belly still feel cooler than when I took him temp. I even touched under his belly just now and he didn't wake! That scared me so I just called his name and he raised his head and looked at me then put it right back down!!!!!!!!!!!! So I've had my answer to prayer tonight - and after a rough beginning, he finally has settled and can rest and even sleep. What a wonderful dog he is and thank you so for all the prayers. Just to make sure I got the flashlight and looked at his gums. Pink and good return. By the second pressing of his gum they really pinked way up and return still less than a second but he went right back to sleep. And now, he's snoring. Wonderful sound. I've just had two crackers and some diet coke with some sugar for dinner and over all, it's turned into a goooooooood night. That snoring sounds like heaven. Going to see about a second nap for me now.

| Tibbe got up and just had less than a tablespoon of firm-ish diarrhea right on the den floor as I watched saying" oh, let's go outside" but unlike when he's himself when he'll stop, he just stayed there humped up looking right at me and did his business. I Let him out, cleaned and mopped and we got back to bed on the couch and I saw that he had some recent, wet spit-up on his end of the comforter. Cleaned that up and dried it with the hair dryer and back to bed on my end of the couch. I'm glad we stayed in the den tonight as I figured it was could be a messy night and much less trouble to wash the den floor and comforters on the couch than the rug and bedclothes of the bedroom. Tomorrow I can just throw the comforters in the wash. He did settle back down. But when I first saw him on the den floor humped up, I thought he had one of his hind feet up scratching his tummy all over again! Thank goodness no - not happy about the D but at least he's not going to get wild itching again and his K-Pectin can stop the D. He's settled back down now and I think is asleep again. I'm listening to an M. M. Kaye audiobook on the player and hope that will lull me to sleep this time. Seems I'm the one stuck mostly awake now.

| Bless your heart. I sure hope he is better soon. How miserable for both of you! His tummy must really be uncomfortable right now, but when you gotta go, you gotta go.

| Oh Jeanie, I am just reading your thread about poor, sweet Tibbe. He has really been having a time of it. It's just heartbreaking when these babies are sick or uncomfortable. They look at you with eyes that say "do something, Mama", and sometimes our best efforts just aren't enough to ease their distress. You are such a good mommy. I'm sure you must be exhausted and it sounds like you haven't been well yourself. Try to rest when he does. I'm wondering if he had a reaction to the Heartgard, and now a reaction to the new food. I pray you find your answers soon. Sending prayer, and love your way.

| Found some more fresh spit-up on the comforter just after I gave him his morning dose of Cerenia at 6:44 am. Temp was just over 100 degrees. He has drunk almost 1 1/4 cup of water since he got home last night. I knew he was going to his water bowl frequently but didn't know how much he was drinking until daylight in the kitchen and his water bowl was empty! So I'm only letting him have a few licks every 30 minutes but he is pressing for more. This is new since he got home - he hasn't been that thirsty before. He's refusing food still but I did give him some sugar-water with a bit of kibble dissolved in it on my fingers about 4:10 am and again after his Cerenia dose just now to get him something in his system but I know he's not dehydrated at this rate of water intake! I am trying to get a little rest and plan to have him back at the vet after while as soon as I can physically make it. Right now I'm nauseated, dizzy from lack of sleep and so tired can barely walk. I did drink some Ensure and a half cup of coffee just now - hope that perks me up.
