| Reaction to flagyl Went to the emergency room last night. Daisy started Thursday night about midnight salivating. Friday morning talked to the vet. Vet felt like I should watch her since she did the same thing on flagyl in January. She's been on flagyl since Monday evening. As the day went on drooling got better but her belly started feeling worse. By 7 she seemed like she was in pain and trying to vomit. Salivating wasnt almost gone. Took her to the emergency vet. He wasnt sure what was wrong and gave Sucralfate. I think it helped. She slept through the night and tail was up in the morning. This afternoon when it started wearing off I could tell her belly was bothering her again so gave more. Waiting for a call back from her vet. |

| I don't have any experience in what you're dealing with but I'll add your pup and you to my prayer list if that's ok?? Blessings!

| Some dogs cannot take Flagyl. Why keep trying to put her on it... use a different AB.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope the vet gets back to you soon and Daisy feels better soon. Did they tell you to stop the Flagyl? Roxie was on it for weeks and she got diahrrea a couple days after starting it so her vet put her on probiotics.

| Vet contacted me back. Actually two different vets lol. They both said they see that reaction sometimes when the dog tastes it on their tongue or in their throat?? I think her dosage is too high. I tried it again with this flare up because both vets said its the best thing and one only things to help her bloody diarrhea flare ups. They said tylan will help flare ups sometimes depending on how bad it is. I tried tylan and the blood continued so switched back to metro not knowing what else to do. Thank you so much for the prayers!! They are much needed. The sucralfate seems to be helping for now and I'm now giving her tylan again since her diarrhea has stopped. Im just so scared bloody diarrhea will come back and it wont know what else to give besides metro. It sounds like long term tylan, probiotics, and cerenia. We will be trying prozac after her belly heals and im hopeful that help prevents flare ups as well. |
