| going to try to take Adonis to Auburn University Its happening again, started back up about 4 days ago. I've spent 4 days googling too, coming up fairly empy. Last month, he started falling down when he'd stand in one spot over 30 seconds. I took him to the vet one day, did senior panel. then to ER vet the next cause it got much worse. Bout 4 days later, it just stopped. Neither Vet came up with anything, except my vet said he must have eaten a green lizard. Emergency vet said if it kept happening, he needed to see a Neurologist. Thursday, this started back up. I don't think the chances of him eating a lizzard 2 months in a row could be right, especially when he won't chase anything. When standing still, Adonis looks almost like he's starting to rock or hiccup (only description I can find for the moves he's making). Then his feet start slipping out from under him. If he gets up and starts walking, it stops in its tracks! So he knows how to get himself out of that "state". I've also wondered and googled about Heart Guard he takes too. That is the only med other than his flea med (advantage II) that he's on. It can cause staggering in some pets. I know if we can get the appointment, it'll be an overnight trip. I will have to board Venus. Really can't afford any of this but have credit card, will take care of my boy. I've had him since 2001. Never had kids, so Adonis IS my child. Its breaking my heart and tearing me up wondering what is wrong, and knowing I'll have to wait till my doc sets this up. I never got a call back today. |

| I'm sorry this is going on with your Adonis. It so hard when we don't know what is going on with our little loves. Sending prayers and positive thoughts. When we took Zhoie to NCSU, we went in through the ER, that way we didn't have to have a referral, just something to consider if your vet drags his feet. I know how worried you are, try to stay positive.

I looked on Auburns website, and you have to have a referral to see a Neurologist. No wonder I'm an Alabama fan... Sadly though, Alabama University doesn't have a Vet program. Thanks ya'll. Just keep him in your prayers. | |

| NCSU site also said you need a referral for Neuro, but when I emailed a surgeon that I found on their site, she let me know if you go in through the ER Zhoie would be examined in the ER and then referred to the Neuro unit the following morning. That's what we did and 4 days later, Zhoie had AAI surgery. I'm a true believer in vet schools, they are amazing. Good luck, I pray your find some answer and the help you need.

| You and your pup are in my prayers...go thru the ER there and they will refer you to a neurologist! I have NO idea what is wrong with your baby, but I can say I saw the same behavior in my brothers dog and in one of my Yorkies several years ago....it was from the Advantage II. The "condition" ceased when we stopped with the topical flea preventive....praying it is as simple as this in your case. |

| Obviously Auburn has changed their policy then. I took Cammi about 5 years ago to a neurologist there and just called and told them her vet and I suspected hydrocephalus and they made an appt. for us to go and see one and have an MRI done. That was the diagnosis when they did the MRI. I have used them twice and they are excellent. Good luck and let us know what happens. I can't say enough good things about them. The second time I used them was too late for my puppy. The vet fooled around thinking he had a back problem when it was actually AAI and by the time we got him to Auburn his brain was shutting down his entire system and he was in excruciating pain. I have been please with them.

| Prayers for your little guy. Could this be a focal seizure? It sounds similar to what Max went through when he was a puppy.

| It's easy to get a referral if they are saying you need one. Do what you need to do because Auburn is one of the best in the country. Get your vet to refer you. He/she should have no problem doing this. And, if it is just a neurologist that needs the referral..go on your own to Auburn and see a general vet and have HIM/HER refer you. It's well worth the effort to get the referral how ever you need to. Auburn vet school is awesome..even to Bama fans Still praying for Adonis.

| You know, I thought it'd be cheaper to go that route...but I just found out the cost of Neurological workup. My God, I didn't want to enroll him in school there. Its a no can do financially, especially since I'd have to drive up and stay somewhere up there. I went to the vet and got the last 2 blood workups, and am really not happy about him not calling me for a consult about it. His Amylase is 1801, where it should be no higher than 1125. Lipase 1176, when shouln't be higher than 695. Bun/Creatinine is 31, shouldn't be higher than 27 MCV IS 80 shouldn't be higher than 79 Platlet count is 506, shouldn't be more than 400 (formerly 888 and 575 both times last month. Monocytes are 1010 shouldn't be higher than 840. PH is 8.1, shouldn't be higher than 7.0. Microalbuminuria is 30, should be 2.5 I've been googling all day, and coming up with Cushing disease (way he eats, and several other symptoms, Kidney disfunction, Pancreatitis (he was dx'd with that a few years ago), and infection. None of this tells me anything about the original problem I have been looking at, him standing still, then slipping down, or falling! I know he's old, but damn, I want a better life for him. Lot of problems, but I'm not putting him down! He's not that bad off. I will keep in mind, YorkieMom1, about the advantage II. My vet says its safe, but that just "may" be why it disappeared last month, and came back within days of me putting it on him this month! I'm beside myself and just don't know what to do. Disappointed in Auburn prices, and really PI$$ED at my vet not calling me about any of this stuff in the blood work. Just wondering if I need to change vets. |

| Yeah, it can be pricey. Bottom line is this...your vet is not finding the problem and you aren't happy with your vet. What can it hurt to take Adonis to another vet and just see what/if other answers you get?
