Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Not sure if its blood Stewie threw up right after morning meal (6am), I found little specks of bright red substance throughout his vomit. I'm not sure whether it's blood or something he ate yesterday while we were out on our walk (I don't remember seeing anything red, but I remember seeing him chew on something, and I immediately took it out of his mouth... it was a little bone he picked up from the ground next to the garbage bin. Couldn't have been in his mouth for more than 3 seconds). He's acting normal, not lethargic. But his stomach is growling. I'm planning on withholding food for a few hours to give his stomach time to calm down, then feed him little bit this afternoon. Don't know if I should take him to vet. Any advice?

| When in doubt, call your vet for advice.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I just called the vet, he thinks it's most likely kibble or something he ate, coz if it's blood he'd have thrown up more than once already, and he'd be really sick by now. He said I should definitely bring him in if he throws up again later on today, or acts "different" throughout the day. I should've taken a picture of the vomit, just so that I can show my vet what i saw this morning. Maybe it wasn't anything too serious, but I'm just a nervous wreck when it comes to my babies:/

| I'm glad it's not that serious and hope it stays that way. I know that sometimes when Zeus eats something he shouldn't, he gets bright red in his poop. I freaked at first but vet said it was not blood. My friend's son had the same thing happen to him when he was a baby and his body was processing banana like that - bright red. So I think the same happens with Zeus. It just how the body processes certain foods. Still no less scary though...
