| Pig grunt/wheeze Tank has what i would describe as a pig grunt/wheeze when he moves around and gets over excited. He has all his massive energy, eats fine, eats his treats fine, plays fetch like normal and drinks lots of water. eats on his front paws sometimes like digs at them a little. I am pretty sure its an allergy, i give him benedryl but when i give the vet recommended dose and the he goes into a stupor and becomes lethargic. i once even had to give him caro syrup to bring him out of the lethargic state. Other than the wheeze/grunt he is perfect but suggestions are welcome.... |

| I don't have any suggestions but many on here have gone thru something similar and will be along shortly to offer advice/suggestions. If benadryl does that to him, I for sure wouldn't give it to him.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Are you sure he is not just having an "episode" of Pharyngeal reflex (the reverse sneeze). I know that whenever Dexter gets to excited he is more likely to have one. It is harmless & VERY common in the breed. Clyde and Dexter have them every so often, Dexter more often than Clyde. Kinda sounds like a pig or goose snorting. This video has a good example of it: Dog's 101: Yorkshire terrier (youtube) OH WAIT!!! I'm sorry. I read your description wrong. I do not think that what you described is what I think that it was!!! I'm so sorry!!!! Last edited by Clyde_Dexter; 12-15-2012 at 10:03 AM. |

| Maybe reverse sneezing. Could be food or environental allergy. Video tape it and give to vet, also try nutrical instead if Karo it more dietary than strictly an emergency sugar raiser which allows for a later crash again. I give Karo to my epileptic after seizures only and he eats after to stabalize glucose level.
