| Anal Glan Issues? Louie has been trying to bite at his butt a alot lately and we never really thought much of is recently because he scratches a lot due to allergies anyway. Yesterday our dog sitter who makes a living sitting for dogs all day while people are at work wrote a note to us mentioning that he was biting at his butt a lot and that he may need to have his anal glands expressed. I tried researching myself and i found a lot more about the process of expressing the anal glands and possible surgery, but not much about how to tell if your dog is having this issue. His poop is pretty normal, a little softer than it was a few weeks ago but he doesnt seem to be in any pain, hes still as crazy as ever! We have only had him for a little over a month and he's only 14 weeks old. What should I look for to make an educated decision before I take him to the vet and spend a ton of money on a 10 minute visit? |

Donating YT Addict | Its cheaper for us to take waffles to the groomer, bath, tidy cut, nails trimmed, glands handled and a nechercheif $30.00. We do that every 6 weeks and she no longer messes with her bum. |

| and or the outside of her rectum may be noticiably swollen. either way i would visit the vet to be sure. they may need to externally expressed and sometimes you will not get symptoms on that but rubbing of bum on the carpet but that is the most common. my lola has had some serious issues with her anal glands filling up due to stress but allergies also cause them to fill up.
