| Mojo has a huge lump! Today I found a big, hard lump on the underside of Mojo's chin. I'm calling the vet first thing in the morning, but what the heck is it? It's fairly sizable, at least an inch or so, and hard. I can't really move it. Not to be a panicky parent, but it's freaking me out!

| Wow an inch? Yeah I'd take him in tomorrow too. When was the last time you petted him there and it wasn't there? I found a limp on top of Uni's foot a few weeks ago. I took her in and they did a fine needle aspiration(?) and basically took out some cells and sent it in to a lab to see if they are cancerous or not. Thank goodness they came ack negative, but since its on a weird spot with not much skin the vet isn't going to take it off and we've gotta learn to live with it. But good for you for noticing and taking him in right away. Better safe than sorry. It cost about $160 for me to find out nothing was wrong. =\ ETA I was gonna say if he got vax recently they usually make a large hard lump, but vax are usually given on the shoulder or side, not under the neck, so yeah I'd be concerned also. Hope it's nothing tho. Keep us posted.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Get in right away. They will likely do a fine needle aspiration. There are lymph nodes under the chin and along side the neck. It might just be a swelling from a "bite" of some nature, or a bit of an infection going on.

| OK, I felt it again and it is not an inch. I guess I just wasn't thinking. It's more like the size of a blueberry. He hasn't had any shots recently, so it's not that. Because of where it's at, I guess it is theoretically possible for me not to have felt it for a little while. I have to comb out his beard every day, though, so I can't think it's been there too long or I certainly would have felt it, right? I pushed his beard aside to get a better look at it. I don't see any redness at all and it doesn't seem to bother him to have me touch it. Ugh, I wish it was tomorrow morning already!

| OMG! That's awful!. Well, I think I got a pretty good look at it and it was just skin colored. It think what freaks me out is that it's hard and I can't move it. Makes me think tumor. I'm sure it will turn out to be just nothing, but I'll feel a whole lot better when we get to the vet!

| Ewww, I hate ticks! I was hoping the bump on Uni's foot was a tick after i found out it wasn't.

| Is there a black whisker in the middle of the bump? My boys sometimes get a bump, not blueberry size though, where whiskers grow. They both have one big whisker on the chin. It's good to have the vet take a look. Might also be a bite as Gail mentioned. Teddy had a huge lump between his shoulders (no recent vaccinations) and our vet said it looked like a sting. I think it was a spider bite because it took a long time to go away completely. Best wishes to Mojo.

| Any chance it is from an abscessed lower tooth? Did you try looking in the mouth above where the lump is?

| It's actually kind of far back along his jawline. I didn't see any whiskers. I tried to look for an abscessed tooth as well, but it's so far in the back that I couldn't really see anything. I did feel inside his mouth and that didn't seem to bother him.

| I should add that he is acting just fine, other than being over the top clingy today.

| Do you think it could be a swollen lymph node?

| IDK. You could Google lymph node placement in dogs to see if they have them there.
