| We allowed Allie to smell the puppy, however the vet had worked on baby Nollie and given him medicine and o2 to try and get him breathing so I'm sure he didn't smell right. She tried to pick him up and she sniffed around for several hours when we first brought her home, looking for him. She sat by with us when we had our burial and every once in a while ill see her with a little stuffed animal we gave her but she's been fine. I wouldn't leave the puppies with her, unsupervised.

| I agree with the others, let her say "goodbye" but don't leave her alone with them and don't let her stay with them for too long. The sooner they are out of sight the sooner they are out of her mind, too. I'm so very sorry for your loss. =(

I have never had one that cuddled and tried to nurture a deceased baby....they have always pushed them aside....but I do not leave them with the momma.....fortunately, I have not had but two stilborns.....stillborns I have never let mom bond with at all....but I am in attendance in all births, and if one is still born, I am working on reviving that baby and if not successful, I never let mom access to that baby...... | |
