| Tresaderm Side Effects Our new little puppy, Rocky, was diagnosed with ear mites a few days ago at the vet. The vet prescribed Tresaderm ear drops, and Rocky has thankfully stopped scratching his ears. He's been on the drops for about three 1/2 days, but last night I noticed he didn't seem to have as much energy and today he's been sleeping a lot. Anybody else have their baby on this medication and experience this? |

| Here is a little info.... "While systemic side effects are not likely with topically applied corticosteroids, such a possibility should be considered if use of the solution is extensive and prolonged. If signs of salt and water retention or potassium excretion are noticed (increased thirst, weakness, lethargy, oliguria, gastrointestinal disturbances or tachycardia), treatment should be discontinued and appropriate measures taken to correct the electrolyte and fluid imbalance." Revolution prevents ear mites too! |

| Always good to check with a vet. One of my fosters was put on ear meds (Mometamax) and the next day he did not seem right. He was not responding normally and it occurred to me that he could not hear. I googled and found out that it does sometimes cause them to lose their hearing...took him to the vet and they flushed his ears. Fortunately we caught it quickly and he did not suffer permanent hearing loss. Of course that was a different medication, but just using it as an example. Hopefully he is just tired.

| I stopped with the Tresaderm today, even though he has 2 more days. The vet isn't in today but we have an appt. tomorrow. Rocky is acting not like his usual self. His eyes are glassy he just doesn't want to play much, he is very hungry though. I read on a maltese forum that their dog had a similar reaction. I don't like seeing my boy like this |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Cali was on that a couple of weeks ago plus an oral antibiotic for a ear infection . She had episodes of diahhrea with some blood. It coincided with us having to be out of the house for 24 hours due to new floors being stained, so I wasn't sure what was causing it. I called her vet to get her medicine for her diahrrea and stopped the oral antibiotics. I continued the tresaderm and the diahrrea kept on. She has been off the medicine for nearly a week now and seems back to normal. A different vet treated her for the ear infection and didn't mention it had to be refrigerated. My usual vet always mentions it and puts it on the medicine label. I missed it and not sure what happens if it's not refrigerated. I am glad you are taking him in tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be back to his normal self soon.

He does seem a little better today, wants to play more, but he is still not his usual self, he still acts a little spacey. Ugh, I can't take seeing him not feel well, it's the worst thing.

| Reaction To Tresaderm Riley didn't have ear mites but ended up with infected ears due to some environmental allergies and was given Tresaderm. He ended up having an Allergic reaction to the Tresaderm and he was givin Clavamox, an oral antibiotic, which cleared everything up... It is now written in his chart that he's not to have Tresaderm again. Here was my Thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...infection.html |

The inside of his ears became beet red and he had little teeny White Blisters in them while using it.
