Zachary's Mom Donating Member | Autoimmune Disease My Pastor has a dog that has been diagnosed with autoimmune disease that is destroying her red blood cells. Has anyone had any experience with this? She is on some heavy duty drugs with horrible side effects. Thanks, Louise |

| It is a terrible disease. My son had a chihuahua with auto-immune disease. His body was attacking itself. He was losing skin from his ears, nose and top of head. He was on heavy doses of steroids and antibiotics (about $300/month). The drugs would work for awhile and then they would have to increase dosage or change to another med. The steroids gave him an unstoppable hunger and he became quite pudgy. My son finally put him down before his 2nd birthday, to stop his suffering(the dog and my sons). He was a real trooper till the end ... R.I.P. Papi |

| My friend's dog had that I think and she almost lost her. She was in the hospital for over a week and now she is on a high dosage of meds. Thank God she is coming along and doing much better but so far it's costing my friend over $6000. |
