| Prayers for Lilli Moving this from my memorial thread on Benji Today I'm going to honor my littlest in the only way I see fitting. I've agreed to help another rescuer out with getting another Yorkie out of the shelter that's in horrible shape. I just pray we're not to late to save this little angel. It's clear from her picture she'll need to loose an eye, and I'm sure that's only the tip of the iceburg, poor little doll has clearly been through alot. I don't think I'll keep her, my heart is just to broken right now to let another in forever, but I've named her Lilli, and will do what I can to help others network her, and make sure whatever help she needs she'll get. My own hands are tied, I can't put her under my own rescue (I'm strictly a Sighthound rescue), and my personal finances are tied up with my other dogs and Benji's final expenses since I went over the top getting a nice urn and a special necklace made so a part of him will forever hang by my heart, but I'm sure with the help of other rescuers we'll figure out how to get anything she needs done. Just pray for little Lilli today, as I go to pick her up and get her taken straight to the vet, that we're not to late to save this little girl's life. The shelter reports she won't eat, and she's nippy - Well gosh, look at her, who can blame her? Saving Lilli will make up for loosing Benji so suddenly - But I think in many ways it'll help me overcome my pain, and I must admit even if I place her in a new forever home where she will be loved and charished, the presence of a Yorkie in my home will be comforting. My home feels so sad and empty without Benji! I'll foster her for however long it takes to get her healthy and strong, and find the perfect forever home for her.

| I think this is a Wonderful idea. It's never easy to loose one , but I have always found that saving another helps the heart heal. You never know , this little girl may just steel your heart too. No one could ever take the place of Benji but there are so many who need the love & attention that Benji got and they are ALL so deserving of that. |

| Yes, I agree. I know my heart couldn't take another boy right now - but I think little Lilli will help me as much as I'll help her! I'm also considering adopting a darling little girl from a shelter as my own. But I'm not sure my heart is ready to make another forever commitment yet. And she's younger and seems pretty healthy, so if I don't, I'm sure she'll get adopted.

| This little girl, the one in the shelter, be sure to keep checking on her as many are PTS because other people think the same as you, that she will be adopted. If nothing else, you could foster her till she finds a good forever home. Ha, then you'll fall in love with both girls & end up keeping them both. How good would that be for them and you. Ya know, you can never have too many Yorkies. |

| Oh ya, I know all to well how many die because everyone thinks someone else will take them! I've got someone going to check on her in person today - she has been there almost 2 weeks, if they get a feeling she's in danger she'll call and I'll go get her, too. Already took one girl 2 days after Benji died out and found her a great foster home. I wasn't a Yorkie person at all - until Benji, he changed me forever. Now I can't bare to see Yorkies in need without doing what I can to save them! Does anyone know of a Yorkie rescue in California near LA? I am seeing a bunch in shelters there - and I can only do so much ;(. 2 foster Yorkies would be my limit with my other dogs, especially since I know Lilli is going to need alot of extra care for awhile, and my own 16 year old Afghan is in congestive heart failure, so I have to limit what I take on - I can't spread myself so thin that I can't give everyone the attention and care they deserve!

| Rescueme is similar to Craigslist. It's just a place for owners to post animals that need to be adopted or rescued.

| Lilli is now safe in my arms - She's dirty, matted, scared, and clearly in pain. She wouldn't let the shelter workers touch her - But took one look at me and came flying out of her cage into my arms! She knew I was there to save her! The shelter workers where crying, one of the girls said she didn't think she had a chance at rescue, she didn't think anyone would ever want to take an older Yorkie with both medical and behavioral problems - I just smiled at her and said "well, there's a place for every dog!" and I truely believe that!!! Lilli is safe now, and will forever be loved regardless if she stays with me forever or not. Just getting ready to take her to the vet now, I'll update after the vet appt.

| Well, she's in much better shape then it sounded from the way the shelter was talking about her - Her eye IS savable! I may take her to the opthamologist when I get her back to Vegas, but for now we're going to medicate the eye with some antibiotic and steroid eye drops to help bring down the inflamation, it does appear to be some sort of blunt trama, but the vet thinks her eye will be ok with proper care. But she does seem to be completely blind, her other eye is covered by a cataracts. She's also probably going to loose most if not all her teeth, and, of course, she'll need to be spayed once we deal with the more urgent problems. She's also got some fleas, no big shock there either. Just gave her a good bath and brush, I think her coat is going to be saved, it's coming out nicely now that she's clean! And she's already following me everywhere, dancing, and is absolutely darling! She bumps into everything because she can't tell where she's going, but she'll be ok once she figures out the layout of the house. My heart isn't completely into this right now - There's been many tears today, but I'm so glad I am doing this anyway, all this little doll needs is some good old fashion TLC now! This "free" Yorkie is going to end up costing me about $1000 once all her medical care is taken care of - WELL WORTH EVERY CENT! I'll take her back to the vet in a week to follow up on her eye problem, but he suspects with the eye meds and antibiotics we started her on, she should improve quickly.

| Ok, it's over, I'm a foster failure. Lily is staying forever. This little girl has quickly worked her way into my heart. I think her poor old heart would break if I sent her off again. And I know mine would. I feel as though she is ment to be here. I know this is another heartache in the making - but who cares, heartache or not - this little girl deserves love, joy, and the best care available, and that she will get. Welcome home my California Lily, you shall never again know abuse, neglect, or loneliness. Only the best is good enough from here on out! You are home forever my sweet angel!
