| Very loose stools Ruger woke up this morning with very loose stools, light yellow in color and impossible to pickup with a poop bag. Otherwise he seems fine -- plenty of energy and appetite okay. I just walked him -- late afternoon -- and his poop is the same impossible to pickup mess. I'm wondering when I should take him to the vet. The way he's acting I can't see any reason to take him immediately, but you guys know best. He has plenty of food and water and just gobbled up a treat I offered him. Thanks all. |

| How old is he? Did he eat anything that would change the color of his stool?

| If he didn't eat anything unusual. I would take a stool sample to the vet. Could be worms or some other bug. |

| Has he only had loose stool twice? Have you changed his food? How old is he? You could try a teaspoon of pumpkin and see if it helps. As long as he is acting normal. If he continues to have loose stool I would take him in to be seen. Also if he stops drinking or playing, seems lethargic I would get him seen.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | My dog Quincy get loose stool when he has gotten into stray animal feases. Cat or rabbit poo usually. It last about three days to clear his system and than he's back to normal.

| Ruger is three. When we go out he is always with me so I didn't see him get into anything strange and he is eating his normal food -- no changes. I'm thinking if he doesn't get better tomorrow or I see any changes in his behavior I'll take him to the vet. |

My furkids Donating Member | i just went through loose, unpickuable poop with all 3 of mine! lasted for a MONTH! ya...that was fun! poor furbutts! (was normal color though) we were camping when this happened. they all had bacteria in their guts and giardia...After a month of treatment and a special diet, they are all back to normal...THANK GOD! I would drop off a fecal to your vet to see whats going on.

| Have you recently given him Heartworm meds? My Deuce had a real problem with that. We had to switch to Revolution but that also has some effect on his stools although not severe. If he has another loose one I'd take a sample to the Vet just to rule out worms.

| Emy's poop a couple days ago was half light brown and half dark..its usually dark, cause her Great Life grain-free wild salmon kibble is really a dark color, but I did get some Fromm Grain-free chicken, peas & carrots treats, and cut it up and gave her some throughout the day....I think the carrots changed her poop color..LOL...I didn't give her any yesterday and her poop is the normal color it usually it....I know when I eat carrots, well you know what I'm saying.... |

| Is it really smelly and the color of beach sand? I would take a sample in to the vet to test for giardia if it is.... |
