| My Yorkie walking on 3 legs!!! HELP!! Today when I came home my Yorkie was limping. She keeps one of her hind legs in the air. I picked her up and moved her leg around I squeezed it and tugged on it a little bit and checked her tail nails and she didn't yelp or anything so I know its not broken. I does look a lil swollen but far as I can tell she is not in pain because I can put pressure on it and it doesn't affect her. I don't know if she jumped off the bed or couch and hurt it or what...What can I do? I don't want to take her to the vet because I really can't afford a VET visit right now. She is 9 months old |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope she stops holding her leg up. Like Lynzy said keep her confined and if not better I would get her in for a visit. The vet can hopefully determine with just an exam if it is just a sprain or if she has luxating patella (loose knee). I would agree a care credit card is a must with these babies. It's good to have it just in case. The last thing you want is to not be able to get the care your baby needs. Keep us posted.

| Does she have LP? She needs to rest that leg. No jumping and limit the movement. If she isn't better tomorrow she needs to be seen. This happened recently to my Mikki. Rest worked for us and she was doing the same thing. The next morning she was fine but I carried her all night so she could rest her leg. My Mikki does have LP. Hope your baby is better in the morning. Also to help save for vet bills, I take $x out of each check and put aside. It is non touchable unless the girls need it. Works great for emergencies!

| You need the vet. Limping means discomfort or pain and she probably needs something to keep her comfortable beyond rest. They are masters at hiding their ailments.

| Similar to this? Jackson was doing this, and it ended up being Lymes. He tested positive with a simple fairly inexpensive blood test and was put on antibiotics and pain meds. Within 6 hours, limping was gone. X-rays were done too to rule out anything else, for my peace of mind, but it was a lot more expensive. I would start with a Lymes test. You really can't let your dog continue limping, I'd try to get her to a vet.

| Your pup needs to see a vet. Many possibilities come to mind. Swelling indicates that damage has been done and lack of pain response does not rule out a fracture. She needs meds to take down the swelling and keep her comfortable. Holding a leg up and swelling almost certainly means pain.

They are definitely the masters at hiding their ailments drives me crazy, however; when they are showing injury, such as limping, its usually a true indicator of a problem; usually, not always. However, that pup is definitely in pain, or she wouldn't be protecting it.

| Not walking on a leg means pain. It could be LP, could be Lyme, or it could be a soft tissue issue. Your really need to get your pup to the vet. If you couldn't walk on your leg wound't you go to the doctor?
