| Bump on Sophia We found this bump on Sophia today, it's above her left shoulder. I'm wondering if it's a bug bite, since it looks just like the bug bites I have! If it doesn't improve, off to the vet next week. Any ideas on what it might be??

| No clue what it is but it does not look awful. I would just keep an eye on it like you said.

| Has she had a vaccination lately. If so it could be a bump from that. If not maybe a bug bite. I would keep an eye on it and bring it up to your vet

| She hasn't had any vaccinations lately. The bump is still there, but smaller. So, I'm going to give it more time before deciding if she needs to go in!

| Looks like it could be a bug bite. I took Teddy to the vet last month because he had a giant bump between his shoulders. The skin turned light pink and didn't have a spot like Sophia's. The doctor asked if maybe he was stung. I don't think so because I am always right on top of him when we are outside and I think he would have yelped. The bump reduced in size by 1/2 the first couple of days, but then it took a awhile to go away completely. I believe Teddy's bump was a spider bite. Spiders have been terrible this year. I hope Sophia's spot goes away soon and that you won't have to take her to the vet.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is she trying to itch it or anything? If yes, that may also indicate a bite. Could be a follicular cyst...which are hard but movable, usually the same/similar color as skin, and can grow or shrink. Lots of dogs get those.

| She's not specifically itching that area, but it's hard to tell because we're still trying to get her environmental allergies under control. The bump is still there, and it actually looks a bit redder now. I'm going to call the vet in the morning to see if I can get it checked out tomorrow.

| I took her to the vet and we got bad news. It's actually gotten worse and she said although it's rare at her age, it's possible that it's a tumor. She mentioned a mast cell tumor, and something else. I was literally in such shock I don't really remember what else she said. Sophia also has a broken baby canine tooth. Long story short (and several toy purchases later) she's going in for surgery on Tuesday. The vet said the harness shouldn't touch the incision site and Sophia should wear a collar for 14 days. I'm currently searching for other options now .

| Sarah I am so sorry you didn't get a good report on Sophia I pray it is like Jada's spot and just a benign growth hers was a subcutaneous something ( can't remember the medical terminology but will grab her path report later) I know exactly how you are feeling right now. I cried for days until we found out it wasn't cancer. Sending ((hugs)) and prayers to you.

| Barney had a similar growth and the rule out diagnosis was a mast cell also. It turned out to be a benign sebaceous hyperplasia. They just don't know until the pathology comes back. I hope it's nothing!!

Sarah I know what you mean That day when I took Jada in, 3 days after feeling the little pea sized lump on her back, I was in shock when our Vet asked what she had eaten that morning and told me it was in her best interest to get it out that day. I was beside myself with fear. I sat in the rocking chair he has in his office and rocked her for at least an hour before I could leave. Try not to worry (yeah right I know) but prayers are going up that it is nothing bad.
