pls help pregnant with kidney problems hellp all my 2 year old yorkie misty is 4weeks pregnant. on thursday last week she was vomiting and very tired so we took her to the vet. they put her on antibiotics, which didnt help. she went for a scan on tuesday which revieled that her kidneys are the size of a 15 year old dog. in order for them to correctly analise what is wrong they need to do a biopsy. this can only be done by aborting her puppies. we are not breeders and were hoping to let her have a litter before having her spayed. has anyone got and advise or better yet previous experience with this. we have to make a decision soon.

| OMG! I am not sure what to tell you... Did the vet say that if you don't do it now it could be fatal? Did they say she would more than likely lose the pups anyway if she stays so sick all the time? I will be praying for you.. Remember everything happens for a reason.... just keep your head up... We are all here for you...

to ilovemyabbie There is a difference of oppinoin. The specialist who did the scan says the pupps are healthy and that she should be able to carry to term, our regular vet says it could be fatal. Thank you for you concern

News Misty had the pups aborted on Friday. they have done the biopsy on her kidneys and we will have the results on Thursday. She is on antibiotics and a morphen patch for the pain in the mean time. Many thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. Last edited by shirleyvdn; 12-12-2005 at 03:37 AM. Reason: spelling

You know that you did the right thing for Misty by following your vet's advice. I am sorry to hear that you had to make the decision to abort the puppies but our babies are the most important part of this equation..Let us know what the biopsy shows and how she and you are doing...

It is sad but you did the right thing. Loss of the puppies is serious. You would have been out of your mind if you had lost the mom also. It is sad but true you did the best thing with the circumstances gave to you.

I am so glad that you did what you did. I would hate losing the puppies, but for sure, your first responsibility was to Misty. If something had happened to her by trying to let her carry the pups, it would have broken your heart. You did the right thing. I would think that even if she had had the puppies - wouldn't it have been hard for her to care for them. Please keep in touch. I am hoping so much that she gets better. Carol Jean
