| Help! Enlarged spleen! Hi friends...My little Sassafras had a sonogram done and my vet said her spleen is about 75% larger than normal! I took her to the vet cuz I cant seem to get her weight down after 2 years of trying SEVERAL diet foods and excercise and now she is just not her normal happy go lucky energetic self. Something is causing her discomfort and we cant figure out why. She was checked for diabetes and thyroid probs and they have been ruled out. I have no idea why her spleen is sooo big but i am worried to death! has anyone else out there had a yorkie with an enlarged spleen???

| Awe sweet girl. I would definitely test for Cushings. I have learned so much about the disease our Boxer was recently diagnosed. It's complicated but treatable. Is she having any other symptoms? Excessive thirst and hunger was what made us realize something wasn't right with Coco. Please keep us posted.

| Oh goodness you must be so worried! I have no advice, just prayers I hope your vet is able to get to the bottom of this. I wonder if dogs are like humans, as we can live without our spleens. DH had his removed when he got hurt on a motorcycle when he was a kid. Sending you hugs!!!!

I just read an article that said they can live without their spleen. It was interesting to find that out.
