| Thanks so much for the reminder! I never leave my girls in the car. I'm absolutely paranoid that someone will steal them. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Always such a good reminder...and a good time of year to check out the laws where we each live. Here in Arizona, if a dog is left in a car on a hot day - you can call 911 and the cops will come over ASAP. I've done it probably 5 times here, and they never take long to come. Just like humans, a dog's brain will literally 'bake' in a too-hot car . A car is usually 20-30 degrees hotter than it is outside, depending upon time of year, sun, humidity, shade etcetera. Get this - I once saw a dog in a car in a parking lot - and I called the cops and waited in my car to watch. Eventually, FIVE people came out to that damn car. FIVE. So, there was one little yorkie baking in 100degrees (at least 120 inside that car) - and not ONE of those five people elected to stay w/ the yorkie. I was livid. I confronted them, I just could not deal w/ not saying anything. The cops got there after I walked away...I talked to the cop after, and he too said he told them it was ridiculous that ONE of them didn't think to stay in the car. | Another thing to keep in mind is Walking Over The Black Asphalt!! Riley had a little episode last year..... They take in a LOT of heat being so close to the ground and all.... I now carry him over any black asphalt. A test can also be... if it is too hot for your foot... it is probably too hot for them to be walking over. I Always carry water with me when I take him out in the warmer weather, now. |

| This is something that really bothers me... People do it all the time here, and I've called the cops and they take forever to come. I just don't get why people think it's okay! Also, the hot pavement is a huge problem here too... We have really hot summers, and I am constantly checking the sidewalk before we go on walks because it is so dang hot.

| Thanks for the reminder post. Here in Texas leaving a child or animal in a car that can heat up like an oven can be a certain death sentence so it's always good to remind all readers of YT that all children/animals in hot cars are probably going to die if help isn't called for, windows broken or the parents return in time.

| It's illegal here in Maryland and I will be quick to call 911! I have no tolerance for things like that.
