| Hypocglocemia Hi there..;-) we've had an horrendous couple of days as our baby had a hypoclocemic episode. As he is my first one, I had him at the vet three times to have his sugar levels tested. He is finally better this morning after having to force feed a couple of times with a syringe. Has this happened to many of you before? |

| I'm very sorry. Do you have a supplement like this that you can give to your puppy to help? You can just give a dab on your finger. Nutri-Cal: Pet Vitamin for Dogs and Cats - 1800PetMeds

| Usually they quit having these episodes when they get a little more weight to them unless there is something medically wrong with them, feed frequent small meals and have some nutrical handy it can help put them out of the episode quickly

| Hey ladies..;-) thanx so much for the replies. My little boy only weighs 450grams & I am constantly worried after the episode. I'm so tired from worrying. He looked a bit better this morning & had a small meal. He has been sleeping ever since. Is it normal for them to sleep all day? |

| hypoglocemia (SP) Yes I have recently had the problem with a couple of parti puppies. They werent especially small but were picky eaters. They have outgrown it, but it really requires watching them quite a bit. I free feed anyway to try and prevent this but I also gave them Nutri Cal or Dyne morning and night. When they are lethargic it helps to dropper feed with Pedialyte or Esbilac Formula to get quick energy. They do sleep a lot after these episodes. When the episode starts, quickly give Karo Syrup or sugar water, something sweet quickly. If they dont outgrow it soon, you will need to investigate further to see if there is an underlying cause.

| YHR has a tiny puppy that was surrendered due to hypoglycemic episodes. The foster mom has been feeding him every 3 hours around the clock. That is keeping him stable. I would be careful about letting him sleep too long....while he is asleep you don't know what his status is...and he probably needs to be fed more frequently. Wake him, feed him, and then let him go back to sleep.
