| Cassie may have possible nasal tumor? I'm terrified!!!! Hello all, I am worried sick about Cassie as for the past 4 to 5 months she cannot breath through her nose, she is totally congested and we have tried absolutely everything including IV antibiotics, two antibiotics at one time, allergy medicine, wholistic medicine, etc etc. Nothing helps and no one, not the ER Doc nor my holistic Vet really knows what it is. The ER Doc says she is suspicious there may be a tumor up in the nasal cavity and I did some research on the net, and it is very scary. The ER Doc says there are no instruments small enough to scope her nose and that she would have to have anesthesia and be given a CAT scan or MRI. And that comes with its own health risks. I simply don't know what to do anymore. I'm at my wits end. My poor baby is suffering so. She is having a hard time eating as she can't eat and breathe at the same time. At times she gasps for air. We can't seem to clear it up. Is there any other reason for these symptoms going on for so long, other than a tumor. The prognosis for nasal tumors is not good. I am so worried I can't sleep and I got a severe cold myself from the stress. Please help!!! Thanks everyone, Shellie Muffin and Cassie |

| Hi, there. My ted has a growth in this nasal cavity about two years ago. It was a mass (happened after he choked on a carrot). I took him to Animal Specialty Group in Glendale, California (after many, many vet trips.) He did have to have MRI. It was major surgery. They couldn't get it through the front; so they went in through his throat. They still aren't sure what caused it, but assume the choking incident may have caused a tiny particle to be stuck and tissue grow around it. It was weeks of poor breathing which eventually got so bad he sounded like a vaccum belt that broke (I was being told allergies, cold, etc.) You can look them up on the internet. Ted's doctor was Dr. Winters. I will look for his surgeon's name if you'd like. They are an excellent facility. Ted is fine and dandy these days...though he does sound like a little piggy at times. I feel so sad for you. I was sooooooo drained by the time I got to them, that I begged them to take him one night early because we were both so exhausted...and they did. Best of luck. All will be fine with the right care. It was expensive, but worth every penny. xo |

| Sending prayers for your baby. How sad, I agree with Yorkiemom1 on getting to the nearest vet school asap. Seems responsible that a C-Scan or MRI will be needed to diagnosis. Please keep up posted on your progress.

| Thank You, Perrela. yes, that was quite the ordeal. Hopefully, Cassie's mom will discover there are tools to do this if you go to a specialty group or university. I think it was just amazing that the surgeon had a plan B. If he couldn't get it through the nose, he'd go in through his throat...and he did. Amazing what they can do with a CT Scan and MRI to lead them and, of course, a steady hand. Hope all is well with your furbutts. xo |

scope in nasal area. This was last February. What she ended having was Chronic Rhinitis. I wish I could find my post from back then. We Tried many medications to help her and nothiing ever really workd. I lost my Lizzie last November to cancer. She was almost 15 yrs old. Prayers going out for Cassie. I would have the CT Scan and the scope done her. The Specialist are good for that.

| I cannot offer any help, but I would be at a vet school pronto. I will keep your lil Cassie in my prayers. I know how stressful it is when something like this happens. Hugs!

| THANK YOU all you wonderful people. I don't know what I would do without you. I do have a Veterinary School Hospital within driving distance, VSH- I think it is called- in San Diego. After I see my holistic Vet, I go there for answers. I am so run down and sick from all this, that I am having a hard time being there for my babies. I'm going to the doctor for myself today to get an antibiotic, as this cold has just gone on too long for me and I need to get better fast. It's good to know that not all tumors are cancer. This has scared the living daylights out of me. She is only just 5 years old and very very tiny, only 2 lbs. She is difficult to feed now and mealtime is a struggle. I can't' wait to get this resolved, so me and my babies can get some sleep, finally. We are going through a living hell. Thank you for all your kind words, prayers and advice. I treasure all of you. Thank you again a million times. Love, Shellie Last edited by broodizt; 04-23-2012 at 02:02 AM. |

| Has a culture ever been done ? if not I would ask for one as it could be an antibiotic resistant infection. I say this because my wolfhound had this happen when he developed Chronic Rhinitis from the bordatella intranasal vaccine & if I'm remembering correctly I mentioned this on one of your other threads. I will be Praying for your baby that it's not a tumor. |
