| Testicle question Hi all. First off, we do have a vet appointment for Wednesday, just to check things out. But I wanted to ask if anyone has any opinions. Ruger is just over a year old. He isn't fixed yet but we are going to do that soon (within two months). We've waited a bit because he was late losing his teeth (still has one left) and one of his testicles didn't drop right away. We recently noticed that at the bottom of his left testicle there is a bulge. It's not on top of the skin, it's inside the sac. It's almost like it's attached or a part of the testicle but it's definitely a slight bulge on the bottom. It feels similar to the right testicle and it doesn't cause him any pain or discomfort when we touch it. It also seems to vary day to day - not as noticeable today as it was yesterday, etc. Thinking about it I've noticed it before - I can't remember how far back but I've realized it has been slightly odd shaped but never what it looked like this weekend. It's already less obvious then what it was. Any idea what it could be? Obviously if it is serious we will deal with it right away - we have the option of getting him fixed Thursday (not an ideal time but if we need to we will), but I was just curious if anyone else has an idea or has had a similar issue. His most recent blood work and bile acid tests (in early December) were fairly normal - post bile acid results were very slightly up - but everything else was fine. He has no other health issues or changes - eating, sleeping, etc. everything is completely normal and hasn't changed. I'm assuming it's fine/normal (because I'll worry myself sick!) but we'll go anyway just to be reassured. Thanks in advance! |

| It seems like your thread got lost in the shuffle. Did everything turn out ok at the vet?

| Hi, thanks for asking! The vet wasn't too concerned. She said because it seems to swell (more noticeable some days then others) it probably wasn't a cell mass. It seems to just be a more noticeable part of the testicle. We did schedule his neutering though, in a couple weeks. If the vet removes it and feels it's abnormal he'll send it off for a biopsy. He did get pre-surgery blood work done (because of past results) and his results were normal, which is always good to hear! I'll update after his surgery in case anyone else has similar issues and are searching for answers. |

| Normal blood results are always good! It sounds like your vet is on top of it and there's not much to worry about, so try not to. And please update again

| Hi! Ruger had his surgery on Friday. It went perfectly, no complications. Apparently he was cuddled and held most of the day - when I phoned at lunch to check on him he was sleeping in a tech's lap. Both vets looked at the testicles and there were absolutely normal, only a bit bigger then usual. They weren't sent off for a biopsy. Now we're dealing with a whole new set of problems. His first cone was too small and he could reach a raw spot. The next one is a bit too big and he can get his lower jaw under it. He did this while we were out today and when we came back he was calm and in his bed but freaked out after. So we have him in a baby onesie right now, with a hole for his tail. We're going to see how it goes, and if we can fix his cone to make it safer. I don't want him in two weeks of misery but I want everything to heal perfectly. Thanks for asking. |

| Message Hot Rod's Mom for a soft cone or kiss E-Cone-they're wonderful. Here's her web site directly: The Kiss-E Collar She ships very very quickly in my experience, she totally understands a rush and it's just a necessicary item to have on hand. Did they do internal stitches and coat the incision with liquid band aid? You could also try a belly band with soft padding in it-change frequently to decrease the risk of infection.

| Yeah, I saw those Kiss-E Collars when I was searching the site yesterday! I think we've fixed the problem, but I might get one of those for the future. Right now the cone is on at night and during the work day, and the onesie all the time. The cone is fixed and the combo is working really well. Regarding the stitches - external stitches, three of them. We go back two weeks after the surgery to get them removed. The ones in his mouth are dissolvable though. Thanks for the belly band suggestion though - it's always good to know a variety of solutions. His meds are done today, he's pretty much back to normal and the incision site is looking really nice, so it's a big relief. |
