| Yorkie pup is puking. Help! Hi there, We recently got a new yorkie puppy, Lucy. Although she has been eating normally, 3 times a day when fed, I have seen that sometimes she is bringing up her food. THis only happens once every other day or so. People tell me that this is not normal. She doesnt seem ill, as she is still playful and everything. This afternoon after a long walk to the park, she started bringing up food again. After drinking some water she brought it up again. She seemed a bit uncomfortable, but is still playful and it doesn't seem that anything is wrong with her. Please tell me what could be wrong with her as my wife is worried sick, but we don't want to take her to the vet unnesssary, because she seems okay and normal. All advice would be much appreciated. |

YT 3000 Club Member | how old is your pup, make sure she does not get dehydrated, make sure gums are pink. Is she eating her food to fast or was their a recent chane in food. There is a reason and I would take her in, these little ones can get dehydrated quick and can get sick quick |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. How old is your pup? Has she had her shots? She may be too young for a long walk to the park. What was the weather like? She may have gotten overheated. Make sure your pup gets plenty of rest and try not to have meals too close to strenuous activity. I agree with Chestermama that I would check in with the vet just to be on the safe side. The smaller and younger the Yorkie pup, the faster they can become seriously dehydrated and hyperglycemic -- and the pup can go down fast.

| No matter the age of your pup, vomiting this much warrants a visit to the vet ASAP. This is not normal at any age & can be life threatening for a puppy. There are too many causes for vomiting to take a chance trying to diagnose via the internet. You will find an abundance of useful information here but rite now you need to take your baby to the vet. Please update after you have seen the vet. Welcome to YT ! |

| Thanks for all the advice. We ended up taking the pup (10 months) to the vet. As it was sunday after hours, it was quite expensive, hehe. Anyway, the vet gave it a shot or two for the vomiting, but said that it isn't something serious, we should just take it easy and not let the pup out too much before its next set of shots. Thanks. |

| My 8 month pup was doing the exact thing. I found out I was over feeding him. Like you I was feeding him 3 times a day. Also he was not doing well with the dog food. I tried Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance, and Halo. Finally I found Royal Canin 29 for Yorkie pups and now feed him as recommended. Pricey and not easily accessible and they only produce it in 2.5 lbs bags (PetClub is the cheapest). No more vomiting, bowels don't smell, and no skin itching. Go to Royal Canin website for more info. Best, Renee |
