| Back injury please help I have a 4 1/2 pound yorkie. The vet think he might have a slip disk. It is too risky for surgery. He no longer walks. Does anyone have any advise. It's hard to watch him. He does move his back legs. But never his front. The vet does not known if he will get better. |

| back problem Yes, he has had x-rays. He is very sensitive to medicine and very small. Thanks for your concern. Looking at braces. wondering if he will wear them or if they are small enough for him. |

| Oh, I'm so very sorry. How heavy your heart must be right now. Have you possibly talked to the University Veterinarian school in your state by chance to see if they can offer any hope? This is a site that may offer some hope or support for you. http://www.handicappedpets.com/

| In those situations , there is always the 50/50 chances of recovery . It is also a difficult decision to take . My late Zsa Zsa had back problem at 9 years , she had the surgery and was a little better til the day she died at 14 years old . As I said previously , this is a 50/50 percentage . |

| Oh, I am so sry for you. You will be in my prayers. I guess the only thing that you could do would be to put him into surgery to fix that slip disk. I feel so sarry for you. Good Luck.

| I'm so sorry to hear this My Gabby had a slipped disk about 4 years ago, vet said it was probably caused by her jumping up on and off the sofa and bed. He did not do any surgery on her but she stayed at the vet's office for 2 days undergoing IV steroid treatment and then came home on oral meds (that was a job getting her to take!!). We were under strong advice from the vet to pick her up to put her on the sofa or take her off for 4 weeks (as if she wasn't spoiled enough already!). I can sympathize with you and will keep you in my prayers that something can be done soon. |
