| Sudden Paranoia Hi everyone. I have been up all night. Max is a 4 year old, healthy boy. He has been acting completely normal and we haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. In the middle of the night, he jumped up and startled our other yorkie while in bed. I thought he was chasing a fly (we have one in here that I can't seem to catch) as he is usually really attentive and kills spiders, bugs, etc. After watching him for 15 minutes I realized there was NOTHING. Ever since he's been just pacing and searching for something, but there is nothing to be found. I was able to have him lay with me for about an hour while I pet him and he relaxed. Now, he's back at the pacing. His stool has been normal, he's been eating, and was 100% normal yesterday and last night. I'm thinking about calling the vet this AM. Has anyone experienced this?!

| As soon as I got done typing he started running around and playing with my other yorkie. Yet, continues to pace after. It's like everything is totally normal except the pacing...

| Just to be on the safe side, I'd take him in to the vet. If you could film him while he is exhibiting the pacing, it may help the vet diagnose the problem. |

| My Scotty did this on 4 or 5 occasions during hs life and I believe there is a term for it now - think it is a form of epilepsy????

| Princess has acted like this and the problem..? A microscopic piece of poop stuck on her butt. Have you tried wiping with a rag in case you can't really see it? Hope he's feeling better soon.

| Oh, and yes, take him to the vet of course. That is my first action always if anything seems awry.

| I called the vet when they opened at 730 and they said that since he was sniffing/in search of something while pacing it shouldn't be anything to worry about. He might have been tracking a fly and lost track. He eventually curled up next to me and relaxed. Took him out and he was totally normal. Had to leave for the afternoon, but will be back soon. Hopefully everything is a- ok

| Here is a link to one of the sites mentioning recurring episodes such as my Scotty had. Fly-biting Googling dog biting at imaginary insect shows other such entries FYI.

| Wow, great read! He hasn't done this since he initially woke us up last night, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on him. Since I've been home this afternoon he is acting normal, so far. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

| Will keep those fingers crossed. The whole time I had Scotty I didn't know of this and the vet was only mildly interested at the time and it never affected Scotty except for those few crazy episodes but if you google this terminology, you will see it is wider spread than I would have thought. Hope you baby only has this one episode and he really did see a fly he tracked!!!
