| iv just got my 1st yorkie. She's throwing up and has tonsillitis! Since iv got her shes been back and forth to the vet. Im so worried about my little baby. Its been 10 days now, and she still occassionaly vomits, but only in the early hours of the morning. But surely she should stop now? shes been on antibiotics for 10 days today. Anyone had problems similar to this? Id really like some input. One thing iv learned is that they very sensitive little things... |

Be sure to keep her hydrated. You may want to mix so pedialyte with water. This keeps her electrolitos in balance. Use the unflavored one. Keep us informed as to her progress. Barbg

| thanks. Well im all the way in south africa so i dunno if we have that, but last sat when she vomited all through the night i kept dosing her with sugar water in a syringe. That the only way she would take it, because she refused to eat or drink. im so paranoid because the 1st yorkie i got (my current one's sister) died. You see what happened was that the breeder phoned me and said that i could come pick up my dog. Being my first time i didnt know until later that she was only 4 weeks old. Anyway that nite (her name was Sash) she didnt want to eat or drink and she was so dosile, so the next moring i rushed her to the vet and the vet said she was very dehydrated and put her on a drip. 2 hours later i went to pick her up and sadly she died in my lap. I was so devastated. I only had her for the night! I had an autopsy report done and she died of a septicemia, which was caused from hookworm that damaged her insides and caused an infection. I was so furious at that breeder. To cut a long story short the breeder gave me Tash (my little baby now). And she too was riddled with worms. And now has tonsillitis. I have reported this breeder to the spca and they have opened up a case against her. Im taking tash back to the vet this afternoon, the vet said because its been 2 weeks and shes still vomiting occasionally hed just like to check her up again. ... But i want to stop that women from selling sick puppies and taking them away from their mother so young... |

| puppy 4 wks old is way to young to be let out on it's own. It probably wasn't even drinking water by itself yet. Bad breeders and petshops trap people by the "replacement/exchange" the dog policy. Most people would rather keep the dog because they've fallen in love with it or they don't want to chance getting another sick one. Either way you have to pick up the vet bills. Keep taking that baby to the vet. I don't even think she's old enough for her first worming to be effective. I'm not sure what products you would have there that we have. Watch her close. Good luck with this little one. I hope that you persue legal action to get your money back, have her pay for those vet bills, and put that uncaring breeder out of buisness. |

| i tried but she just slams the phone down in my face. I paid R3000 for her. Which is alot of money here. Normal dogs gor for about R400. But at this moment although my vet bills are through the roof i just want her to get better. thats all i care about now. She is the sweetest thing in the world. but wow is she fiesty and cheeky! I love her. How about you? do you have a little yorkie. Oh, i dewormed her with Nemex? ever heard of it? That was for the hookworm, because they can be deadly to little puppies. Now she's got tapeworm but the vet said that is not too serious and i can wait till shes a little older to give her that deworming medicine, cos he said it can be toxic to little puppies. But shes been dewormed 4 times with nemex... |

Yes, I have a yorkie and I don't know what I would do without her. My Brandy was rescued from a Backyard breeder. I was reading through the newsaper and I noticed it said "5 wk old yorkies for sale." I called her and told her that they are too young to sell and she should wait much longer. She then told me that she already sold one and is selling them because "they're eating her out of house and home." She said if I don't want them, she will sell them to someone else, but cash only. It was a Sunday, so I went to the ATM and I withdrew the atm limit and borrowed some to get Brandy. The lady kept the 4 puppies left seperated from their mother, in a box lined with paper full of poop and pee. They didn't have shots or worming. I took Brandy and then I told this site about her and I called animal control. A great women from this site named eensor saved the other 3 boys, gave them the medical care and screened new homes, and actually ended up keeping one. The tapeworm is from fleas. Don't forget to give her some advantage or something to treat them. Basically the fleas have tapeworm eggs in their stomachs sometimes and when a dog eats a flea they get into thier system. Hope this helps and that she gets better.

| puppy OH, my Gosh, oh, my gosh, oh my gosh!!!! I am freaking here. Four weeks...you are doing so much for your baby, good for you. Don't worm her anymore..have the vet check her stool for hooks or rounds worms..the tapes can wait until she is feeling better. Feed her at least 4 times a day..if she vomits in the morning, it can mean her stomach is empty..makes sure she has food during the night for a few weeks...hold her alot and comfort her..please keep us updated. |

| thanks you guys! Took her back to the vet yesterday, and he said that her tonsills are looking a lot better and the throwing up could still be from her tonsills because they are still a little inflamed. But he said shes just trying to get the mucus out her throat. But today shes a happy little energetic thing! The thing is i dnt have any other pets and she doesnt have any fleas (well iv looked for them and cnt find any) so she mustv got tape worm from that terrible breeder. Just wanna say a big thank you to all the kind words and support! il definately keep you guys updated!!! Im thinking of gettin her a little friend, maybe a sausage dog. so she can have a play mate during the day. do you think itl make her jealous? or is a good move? |

What a great job you are doing with this little one. In regards to getting another puppy I would hold off till this one gets stronger. She needs all the strength she has to stay alive and another little one around at this time could drain her of her energies. I think down the road it would be great for her to have a buddy.
