| Parvo We just bought a male. Hes 3 monthes old and we found out today he has parvo. We've only had him since tuesday. Hes very playful and energetic, he eats fine, drinks plenty, but he has diarrehea. We called the vet and they said to bring him in and have him checked that parvo was bad around here. So we did and he tested positive. The only other symptom you could say he had was he was somewhat depressed the day we brought him home but he perked right up once we started playing with him. He seems like a normal dog other than the diarrehea. No blood, no nothing. Just the diarreaha. All the vet says is that they have a good feeling about him but from you guys with experience do you think he'll be ok? |

| I think you need a new vet. Parvo is deadly and needs to be aggressively treated by vet if that pup is to have a chance

| My sister had a dog with parvo, unfortunately she waited to long to get him to the vet and the care he needed. Poor little guy didn't make it. I believe if they catch it early enough, it can be treated. In her case, the pup was vomiting, lethargic and had diarreah. He went downhill VERY fast (as in hours). |

He needs fluids, fluids, fluids. And most likely from an IV. Or have your vet show you how to so sub-q injections, but round the clock IV is best in my opinion, Our little boy spent 11 days in the vet with , and never showed any symptoms. We had him at the vet for shots and he had a reaction and we found out then that he had it.. It's not something to treat lightly, and small dogs do not normally survive it. Especially if he is already showing symptoms. He will need antibiotics as well to fight off the infections once the virus eats through his intestinal wall and spills his waste into his body and he becomes septic. Our little guy even ended up with a blood transfusion to help get his white blood cell count up to help him fight the infection himself. Parvo treatment is costly, but I will say that the 6500.00 we spent to save Noah's life was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

| And honestly, if you dont treat him, he will die. You will also need to treat your house with bleach and any potty areas in your yard. Parvo can live in the soil for years, and on surfaces for months. It can be brought in on shoes, hair, fur other, etc. Once in your home, you will have a hard time getting rid of it, and any future dogs you have will be at risk.

| First off, like someone said, you need a vet that knows what they are doing and will do everything to save this babies life. Its deadly and also contagious. The breeder needs to know and anyone that has purchased a puppy from her. If this vet does not seem that concerned, please try to find one that will, fast. |

| The breeder is also responsible for the Vet. bills since this pup had Parvo when you got him. I'm so sorry this has happen. i don't know of any reputable breeder that would not protect their dogs from these diseases. I'd say that breeder was irresponsible and I'd be telling everyone.

| i lost a pup from the spca due to parvo, it can be deceiving & appear like it's not so bad. as already stated parvo is deadly, very contagious & something to take very seriously. i would assume yorkies due to size are more suseptible to complications. glad to read about pups that have survived. good luck to you & your pup |

Owned by Bella & Tibbs Donating Member | Take this little baby to a vet he probably needs hospitalized and give fluids...parvo is hard to survive even at the vets office let along at home.
