Like when she poops or all the time? Was that what the vet diagnosed her with? If it's just what it looks like and she hasn't seen a vet, you should take her to the vet, it may be easy for infection to get in.

I just saw it about a half hour ago. We came home to 4 puppys and of course the cages need cleaning. After the papers, food and water are changed a puppy always has to be the first to poop right away on the clean papers. She was humped over to poop but no poop. So I picked her up and saw shw has poo all over her back side. I figured while we were gone she must have sat on fresh poo and it was stuck. So I washed her all up and lifted her tail to check that its all gone and her rectum is open, like all the elastic is gone. Just a gaping hole. I checked a few minutes ago and its open but looks like the bowel is against the open hole. Nothing is protruding or coming out but the rectum is a perfect large "o".

| I agree with BanditSocks, I would have the vet take a look.

Stuck poop can really inflame the rectum and make it look gross...but if it is normal, it will be fine tomorrow...trim the hair away so the poop will not get stuck and wash the behind often to keep them clean...if you are worried, have the vet look...but I have had many young ones sit down in poop before it all came out...if it was during the night, I awoke to a puppy with a red bottom..during the day you can check the rears many times...

Thanks for all the input. Shes not acting like shes feeling too well. Ive got her in a cage by herself so the others dont bother her and took her food, kept the water. Vet will be seeing us in the morning. Thanks again! I'll let you all know what she says.

The vet check is best...she is not acting normal....vet can give you some meds to help the skin heal fast if it is not a more serious problem...

Thanks, Yorkierose. I've seen that too especially when the first start on solid food. I guess things can get a bit blocked up. I had that happen about 3 wks ago to one in this litter where the poop was stuck at the rectum. She got cleaned up, trimmed up and good old vaseline to the bright pink butt just in case. It may be the same pup.Hmmmm......

I have three girls and a boy. These girls are ALMOST identical in everyway. The sore bottom 3 weeks ago was on a girl and cleared up overnight so I dismissed it and don't remember which girl had the issue.
