| Parker was attacked: UPDATE Hi everyone, so for those of you who read my original thread about Parker and gave me awesome advice and supports- THANK YOU!!! Parker is doing very well today he is acting like himself and is in good spirits. He does have a limp today due to the injury he sustained on his hind leg, but besides that he seems to be doing well My boyfriend talked to our neighbor today who said that he would pay HALF of the vet bill, which I was okay with. However, My bf goes on to tell me that our neighbor asked that I keep Parker on a short leash even when we are on our own property because whenever he goes outside with his dogs he likes to let them run around, and the fact that they are aggressive doesn't bother him and he isn't planning on changing that! Okay that made me mad...excuse me buddy you have two very large mastiffs who are aggressive and you don't care?? It's somehow my fault that they came off your property and attacked my dog? NOT HAPPY!! There is more....He also said that if I file a report with the police and animal control that he will not help with the vet bill and that he will file a petition with the town that I not walk my dog past his house...which isn't even the problem...his dogs came onto MY property! I am so upset. I really want to file a report because apparently he has gotten in trouble before for not conatining his animals and they got into neighbor's garbage, so he was already citied once by the dog Warden. IDK what to do because I do need him to help out with this vet bill, and I don't want to cause problems in the neighborhood, BUT I don't want him attacking any one else's dogs or children that are around. Not quite sure what to do at this point. I don't want to call the police/animal control while I'm still seething inside about my neighbor's irresponsibility, but I think that this incident should still be reported. Not sure yet. |

| If your dog was attacked on your property you have every right to file a report. It sounds like he is trying to intimidate you into not filing. You did NOTHING wrong and should not be afraid of him filing any petition. If his dogs are dangerous it needs to be reported. I am glad that your furbaby is doing better! |

| Ironically people that like to be bullies usually have agressive dogs as well. I would not bend on one issue with this man or your dog will be attacked again and again. Why should you keep your own dog on a short leash on your property? I would file a report and press charges to the fullest with this character or he will be trying to tell you what to do from now on. He can't tell you not to walk your dog passed his house if it is public property. He also is required to pay the vet bills if your dog was attacked on your property. I hope you stand strong on this one because I am afraid of what will happen if you don't. I am happy that Parker is on the mend. Good Luck.

The nerve of him to tell you to put yours on a short leash while his roams unleashed and terrorizes the neighborhood. | |

| No way- you report it- and take him to court for the money if you have to- he should be paying the entire bill, not half. Don't let him bully you into not reporting it. Stop talking to him, stop your BF from talking to him- everything should go through the police now.

| what an a$$ ~ this man is responsible for 100 % of the vet bill and he KNOWS it. How DARE he try to intimidate you into only accepting a half payment and keeping your dogs prisoner in your own yard

| Like the others, I think you should report it as soon as possible, and when you do also tell the person you file a report with that the neighbor is trying to blackmail you into not reporting. This will also go against him when you take the next step, which is demanding he pays the full vet bill, even if you have to go to small claims court. Action now will help this from happening again. Without these steps, you and everyone else remains unprotected, while he breaks the law, and somebody can get hurt really bad.

| Just reading this made me upset and angry again. ArmaniMan is right. I only hope you have not waited too long, to file a police report. Laws differ from place to place so I don't know about that. I also think he sounds like a bully. I would simply state what he said to you. It sounds like he is threating you, to me. If my dog attacked someone in their own yard, I Would KNOW that I was responsible, and so does he. |

| I would report it as well. If his dogs came into your yard - then he is responsible. Of course, he might say that your dogs came into his yard . . it's hard to tell what he might say. I would venture to say that his dogs probably have a reputation in the neighborhood and other neighbors might be willing to say that. In the meantime, doesn't sound like a rosy future with Mr. Bully as your neighbor ~ is moving a prospect at any time in the future? Nasty neighbors can make living hard.

| I would call animal control & the police. He IS responsible for your vet bills and I wouldn't agree to 1/2. You can get that money back in court if need be. He knows that he is responsible and if those dogs end up hurting another dog, or god forbid a child, you don't want that on your conscience. I am totally in agreement with the others. Glad that Parker is doing OK and hope he continues to heal.
